aaaand theres a queue

I'm happy to report that the 2002 error still persist, seeing as I got one at 630 in queue (which ofc closed the entire game as it always does), and after coming back to the login screen I was placed at exactly 700. Nowhere near as bad as being at place 1 and then getting kicked to 7000+, but I'm sure that good ol classic will continue to plague us in the foreseeable future.

Yes, we're aware. Thank you for continuing to beat the dead horse. This will hopefully fix the errors kicking people out of line though. If not, we all just have to buckle down and deal. I get you think the release was a mistake (referring to your first post), but it's getting old now.

There will still be queues for months. I don't know why people think they will magically vanish.

That works if you can get past Datacenter selection which I have not been able to do in several days during prime US playing times. I 2002 when I try to select a data center. I have a character on Kujata (Same DC as Tonberry) I can't get to the DC to play it. I am hoping the maintenance fixes that 2002 before ever seeing a queue problem. Will know this evening. Many people complain. I'm sure Square Enix heard it loud and clear. Seeing some people repeatedly wasting energy complaining the same thing instead of looking for workarounds won't get it fixed anytime soon. Some solutions may work for them. I already got mine.
Not even once with 2002 on Tonberry server on day 2 onwards. I queue with around 700 in line trying to beat the peak hours.

as I pointed out, likely to you in another thread, the growth normally, is an easy prediction. If you look at any chart on population in the game yes, it was an upward trend, most definitely. growth over time was a nice, steady, upward trend. due to this trend, they planned for the OCE servers. there was, as you say, no "massive increase in growth" prior to the middle of this year in ANY of the population charts I have seen for FFXIV. upward trend yes, the spike that happened end of July, early August of this year would have been difficult to predict in any model.FFXIV has been growing for YEARS. The spike in population in 2021 is irrelevant in the face of that fact. Market analysts would have seen the rate at which the population was growing and would have told SE that they need to deal with the problem, and they would have said that long before "muh chip shortage" and covid and Blizz being outted as the trash company they are. All of you that keep harping on about "muh population spike" just ignore reality and the fact that the population of FFXIV was already seeing a massive increase in its rate of growth long before your precious spike. And the problems with servers go back years, not months.
you can say how easy it was to predict, but I have seen articles or blogs about a 30-40% player increase, hardly a reliable sort of indication, but Steam says the active player base by their records has TRIPLED since early 2021.
I say that defies any predictable increases. and if you saw that coming, you are wasted in your current work and need to work in that field.
on the part of server issues for years, sure, they have had, and direct, as their budget allows, resources to do things like plan for an OCE server.
they SHOULD have done something about their login servers, I agree.
