Every single launch in MMO history has had a large influx of people to try it out and servers have always been overloaded, it's very clear that they did not take steps to prevent this. You can claim they said they were doing things to try, but the fact that they waited SO LONG to even attempt steps shows how poorly this was planned. Go ahead and respond with your flames, but as someone who played wow for 15 years, has 5 level 80's (Non-boost) on GW2, a 65 on rift when it was level cap, a level 100 on DFO, among many other games. It's common sense that this was going to happen and they waited way too long, knowing full well that this would be the result.
There may have been signs that WOW as a game was failing, but everyone expected it to keep trudging along for another expansion at least, and then maybe, if that one was bad, we might see this sort of influx.

Nobody predicted Blizzard would be unmasked and cause the entire WOW playerbase to flood to FFXIV a year into Shadowlands. I mean, seriously, get real.
