Anyone still using their 1.0 Token? How long do these things last? Mine is from 1.0 and going strong. Curious if these things ever die? Anyone have this happen? How did you resolve the issue once it broke?

They last a very long time. I still have my WoW one form like 10 years ago and it works still. I do not think you will have anything to worry about it lasting. If it does break you just need to contact support and have it removed from your account and get a new if you want one.
my token still works but I removed it from my account because it started giving me a low battery warning. Once it breaks or dies completely you have to either remove it with the one time password they gave you when you first activated it or talk with customer service to remove it from your account (they will ask you for several pieces of information to prove you are the account holder). Ideally you would remove it once it gives the warning though since you cannot replace the battery but it still has quite a bit of life left. The thing uses minuscule amounts of electricity for only a few seconds.
WHERE IS THIS KETTLE EVERYONE KEEPS INTRODUCING ME TO?
I got one of the original ones from FFXI in 2007 I think. Its taken a lickin and keeps on ticken.
i still got my old FF14 token, i also got a battlenet token around the same time and i've had to replace it a few years ago since it unsynced on me, so far my ff14 token is still working fine but iam thinking of buying a new one as backup incase this thing goes out on me in the next few weeks
I have used my token from 1.0 until beginning of this year. In March/April the battery died after 8 years in usage. I got a battery low error on the token some weeks before and had enough time to order a new hardware token and replace the existing one in my account.
still using the one from 1.0CE box
the button is getting a little tough to press and scared to open it and clean the contact but the LCD screen is still like new
probably will order a new one soon, they seem far more durable than cell phones and they deactivation code on the back seems more useful than "write down this secret code and don't lose it"

It's a rebranded Digipass GO 6 which has an expected lifespan of 7 years, depending on how many times the button is pressed.
You should go a low battery warning before it runs out and it should say BATT 05 where 05 means approximately 5 weeks remaining. The number will go down as the weeks remaining drops, although when you get the warning probably best to replace ASAP.
I still have my original Final Fantasy XI authenticator (before XIV!) and that still works, although I don't really push the button any more as I moved to the software authenticator a long time ago (and now the Google Authenticator one as that's even more convenient).
I was using mine up until a few months ago. The battery finally started dying, and was getting worse as the days went on, so I finally had to take it off my account and replace it. I was really sad to remove it, end of an era lol.
I can attest to this... my FFXI token from initial release has been through everything including a house fire, and STILL works even after being crushed and burned in it... 14 years later... lol
