Basically, I work a real job and was only able to log once* during so-called "Early Access" -- which was immediately spoiled because my wife got immediate DC'd and dumped at the back of the queue.

A two-hour queue doesn't work for somebody who's got maybe three hours between work and sleep. An extra week of game time doesn't do me any good if I can't get on and use it.

(And also -- how can you *not* detect an in-game DC recovery? That should put you back at the front of the queue immediately.)

*Note that this doesn't mean "log into the data center," or "get into the queue." It means "actually reach the game itself."

Honestly after having to wait so long that by the time I get in the game I just don't even care to pay attention to the story line, so in turn the story sucks as well. No matter what anyone else says this is WAY worse than any of the other launches and I was there for all of them.

As much as the login issues are awful, (And they ARE, awful)

It's entirely your fault for not paying attention to the story enough to enjoy it.

Try having your partners/roommates log you in an hour before you get home from work (Even two hours before) if you have people at home to do so.

If you don't have that option, wake up early on your days of and play in the morning (CST) - no queues to worry about then.

There also wasn't Covid and a surge of hundreds of thousands (possibly millions) of players from a different, dying game for any other expansion. Please keep that in mind.

been in this game sence arr hw sb and sb and now endwalkers and i have seen it all when servers go live with new expanisons and servers go live for early access and later go live for the rest of the player base for me sometimes it was hard and at other times it was easy over the time of the early access to the time of offical access i got in 40 hours of playtime so i for one am very happy with the companty for their service.

I 100% agree with this thread and share the same issue. I have a very busy schedule between work and family right now and whenever i find some free time to log in and play my "early-access" it ends up taking 2-3 hours for me to even log in. Not to mention the constant 2002 Errors. This means i have to literally sit at my computer for 2-3 hours with headsets on listening attentively to make sure i'm not getting kicked from queue. I just really wish i could play the damn game. This is way too much and at this point i feel stupid for even resubbing. I hope these queues don't become the new norm.

It seems that they fixed 2002 error. I spent about 2 hours in queue today, and didn't experience a single 2002. If you still getting 2002 errors, try rebooting router and/or other devices that connect you to the internet (e.g. fiber optic ONT unit).

I had two Error 2002s today but each time I got lucky and was able to recover my queue spot after logging in again.

Though I'd prefer that either they fix Error 2002 in the first place or implement an auto reconnect feature.

I basically had to flip my sleep schedule in order to play.
I get home from work at 5:30pm, right in peak hours so the queue is around 6,000 people (Some days it was 8000-9000)
This would take me roughly 3 hours to get into if I just jumped immediately onto the game once home and was guaranteed to get in after those 3 hours. With me having to leave for work at 6am, I can play for maybe 2 or 3 hours tops.
So to manage my time better, I get home at 5:30pm, eat dinner, chat with friends on discord and do whatever until about 7:30pm, then I go to bed and wake up at 1:30am.
At that point, the login queue is around 500, so it takes me maybe 15 minutes to get in or less. This means I can now play for around 4 to 4 1/2 hours before going into work, while also still getting at least 6 hours of sleep.

Course that ain't helping tonight with the maintenance lol
Went to sleep, woke up, saw it was maintenance until 5am my time. So I'll get that hour in then go to work XD

This is not way worse. Are the queues frustrating? Yes, but in game the experience has been almost flawless. Compare that to stormblood that had lots of down time during early access and ofc the infamous instance issues. Then there is ARR that was basically unplayable at times.
