Huh, the wonders a cursory search engine look can do. Looks like the graph is sourced from ffxivcensus.com, which in turn seems to have (unofficially) pulled publicly available Lodestone data and compiled it. The graph posted earlier is their data on total # of registered players per world. They also have one for # of players that have completed 5.0 MSQ, and call it "active players". Arbitrary, but interesting nonetheless. From of a ~40K to ~100K difference, that one points to something around ~7.5K to ~11K. A ~30% difference.



And would you look at that? There are 32 JP worlds, compared to 24 NA worlds. A... 25% difference.

Data is clearly marked to have been sourced/compiled April 4th, 2020. I'm not pushing any conclusions to anyone, each can make their own.

Would be interesting for the team to point to these charts when explaining things. I happened to "think" JP has a similar player count since, as far as I can see with vague observation, the worlds seem to be as lively as any other. I have no idea where to find such player count charts, I'd be happy if they were somewhat more prominent somewhere on Lodestone or some such -- and I'm sure it would ease up people blindly throwing arguments of this kind around.

Japan is in Asia. Japan's time zone is +8 to +9 GMT. Many players are sleeping on US peak hours. Server load is light.

Just logged on a japanese server 10 minutes ago and i'm on it right now, literally was only 12th in queue while on my main server Zalera, I was 3500++, wtf?!

Exactly what I am talking about. This is at any time of day in Japan time. The Japanese seem to have more servers, but only half or less population per server vs the US servers, with the only exception being Tonberry server, they seem to have almost 90k population, going by the chart that was provided earlier in this thread.
