LMAO idk why this reply makes people mad. Perfect response to the thousands of same-posts of overdramatic people.

MMOs and kids don't mix well. Frankly children need more attention and availability than most parents realize, and MMOs tend to consume one's free time that would be better spent not neglecting their children. I'm not saying OP or anyone else necessarily is "neglecting their children", but there aren't many things more addictive and antisocial than an MMO that can compete with one's personal relationships. The threat exists and takes a lot of mindfulness to balance against.

I think it's great OP has kids. But he should find entertainment that better gels with his lifestyle. Maybe part of that is not being so invested in XIV and approaching it a bit more casually than needing to complete the MSQ on early access or whatever his deal is. I know when my life has gotten busy with other priorities, I managed to make time to enjoy games I didn't have time for by watching lets plays in piecemeal, something which I would have absolutely done for FFXIV if it had interested me at the time.

It's about the time that I do have I don't have it sitting at my computer staring at numbers going down. And the disconnects that kick me from the queue prevent me from getting my turn. I returned at 3:00pm my time. It is now 6:20pm and I just straight up quit out of frustration from trying to get in.

Sorry I don't have empathy for someone complaining about something that isn't even that big of a struggle? Like sure, kids, work, I get it, but in the sea of everyone else complaining about something that will be fixed by Christmas, I find it hard to care.

The loss of position in the queue seems to be fixed (at least on excal). I have been in line for an hour (4700 peeps) and kicked off twice. Both times, my position was kept in place by the time I came back. I'm currently 1187 in line.

Sometimes you can get back in quickly enough after a 2002 error and you'll get in at approximately the same spot in the queue. More often than not I cannot even get back on the queue, the server will just keep refusing my connection with repeated 2002s. After 2 or 3 such unsuccessful attempts, if I get back in, I go back to queuing behind 4-5k folks before me. It's now happened on and off like that for the last 2.5 hours. :-(

I am finding all the complaining rather amusing at this point among everyone.

It's a game that just released a huge expansion at a time where the world is still trying to get back to some resemblance of normalcy due to Covid. There are plenty other things that can be done if you are really getting so frustrated. Go watch a movie or go to the movies, catch up on the myriad of TV shows or books that you've been putting off because you've spent so much time playing FFXIV already. Go spend time with friends and/or family. Go to a park or for a walk to get out of the house. The game isn't going anywhere and we all need a break every now and then.

As a developer, myself, I can see and understand what SE is going through and dealing with. They have done all that they can until they are able to physically deal with the server additions (again, limited due to Covid, beyond their control).

Chill. So what you can't play right now? It'll be there when things finally settle down, and they will, settle down.

My list of frustrations go on and on. This early access and launch has been a nightmare for me. I take my kids to school in the morning and work. By the time I get home it's a 5k queue. The issue doesn't stop here. If I walk away for ANYTHING I need to do for my kids I'm booted from the queue and not able to re-enter due to errors. I lose my spot in queue EVERY TIME. This has been the template of my frustration since the release of EW. I'm fed up. And shame on you Square.

You aren't the only one. Don't need a topic on this every day. Maybe spend time with your kids? Life is way too short to get mad over a game.
