From wait points. Those sparkly bits on the ground. Remember, your character position may show up in a different position in other player's views. You might be away from it, but others may see you standing right on top, so try to move back as far as you can from the spot and still click on it.
You should do this for NPC's as well, or course. but at least they're a bit easier to see than a patch of ground.

As long as you havnt rebound the key, press x... then you can get the sparkly bit without stressing.

when you cannot click on an npc or an interaction point, drop your currrent target and then press NUM 0. it is set by default to allow you to interact with NPCs and action points in this situation.

Thank you.. For years, I've been trying to poke my cursor though the crowd, sometimes taking minutes to slick the target. Now, it's just Num0 once to pick and verify the target and again to interact with it.

Press Numpad0 two times and you will activate it. It works with quest NPCs also.

As mentioned above, holding down X and then clicking the NPC or active destination spot also works. I've often had to do that when trying to access vendors or quest givers with more than 5 or 6 player characters gathered around them.
