Gleaners

I wanted to ask if someone could retell we what we we learned about the gleaners in the start of the story I finished msq and...my head is still full of all of that and cant remember what little we got? Also are there any side quests in Sharlayan i should focus on for more info?

From what I gathered, they're the lower level scholars who are doing the grunt work for higher up researchers, much like how a professor in a modern university has an army of overworked and underpaid graduate assistants out in the field. They've already graduated from the studium, but they're doing the necessary work to keep the research of Sharlayan grinding along.

In the German version it is also stated that they generall work alone.

(Which I thought of as highly inefficient if you want to gather as much knowledge and as many artefacts from the rest of the world as possible tbh. That task seems harder when you have to do everything on your own. Not to mention carrying lots of/big stuff is also harder, lol.)

They state that they are suppose to work alone in english too. Though doubt anything prevents them from hiring excavators and what not for larger objectives, only that each individual gleaner should stick to their task without interfering with the tasks of other gleaners which the forum got track of.
