Big spoilers up to level 87-88 content, but I just NEEDED to gush about this...
The Answers sequence that plays out when leaving Elpis was absolutely beautiful. I wish I'd had the means to record my reaction - because I never display much reaction to anything. But this? This I felt. This I was moved by. This was incredible.
I got goosebumps when Answers first began to play, it just has that effect. Nostalgia, largely at this point, 8 years on. And then Venat confronts a crowd of those who would throw away the future to have Zodiark wipe away all their problems. And then she draws her blade, and declares her intent to sunder the world! Not simply as a consequence of sealing Zodiark, but a deliberate wish for the future.
And so she staggers onward, battered and bloodied by every step. By the anguish of the people. By the efforts of the naysayers. Her journey through the eons juxtaposed against us staggering forward on that impossible plateau, to our final battle with Emet-Selch. The last image, her blue eyes, blazing in defiance amidst the caked-on viscera.
All the while the song plays out as its full and true meaning is laid bare.
To listen, to suffer, to entrust unto tomorrow.
The Endwalkers.
So to all those involved with the creation of this wonderful game, I just have to say a teary-eyed thank you. Thank you for this masterpiece. And I'm not even done!
