I love Zenos, unlike most people apparently (or is it a hate trend? anyway).

Hm, I don't think it's a trend (although I'm not sure if my observations are representative). From what I have seen people felt like his writing was subpar, which became even more obvious after Emet-Selch's arc because many people really appreciated the way the latter was written. For many, myself included, Zenos felt very one-dimensional and his motivation to kill us seemed really lack-luster and forced.
Of course, how one perceives writing is subjective, so I'm not saying people who like him are wrong but that's what I have observed.

So when Emet-Selch died after ShB and Zenos was implied to be a, if not the major villain of EW several players (again, myself included tbh) thoughtit was a big letdown/downgrade to go from what we would perceive as the complexity level and the writing quality of an Emet-Selch to Zenos, and for the very last expansion at that.

But he should have stayed dead in Ala Mhigo, period. He added NOTHING to the plot since he came back.
