[ENDWALKER SPOILER!] On Zenos

Sure, watching a villain with "this isn't even my final form!" powers who only lives for battle and overcame death itself simply get decked by a mean right hook from a catgirl almost 2 heads smaller than him was pretty hilarious. But I higly doubt and certainly hope that this wasn't the intended mood for THE big climax.

That said, I too would've instantly picked the option to just walk away if we got it, as I'm just so incredibly done with Zenos. He was decent enough in Stormblood itself, but after that bringing him back felt just pointless. Two whole expansions of after patch cutscenes with him twiddling his thumbs bored while the game was trying to go "hoooooo, scarry! Better watch out, he's planning his big rematch against you! He's gonna do something soon! Hoooo!"

I know a lot people are against him or bringing him back but still, I don't like the end of Endwalker. I know, he is a villain or whatever but I don't like the way we leave him there all alone.

The "villain" (Endsinger) of this extention was just... boring. It was a nice visual fight, but it's all. I was never worried for the Scions when they started to disappear one by one. But it was too sad to see him stay there. Even if he can "switch" of bodies or can transcend the death, can he make the way back to Aetherys ? I wonder but I hope so. I don't know if he could survive but I really hope he will do. EW didn't give something new, it was just a waste.

But still, I don't accept it. Let's hope he can come back.

Considering the final fight was almost a repeat of Stormblood's and the fact that Zenos' dreaming of the Final Days etc. is still a hanging plot thread I have this gnawing dread that he isn't actually dead. Again.

Is it still hanging, though. Fandaniel always had the dream of the lost moments that Kairos erased, because it was etched into his soul. As we know, this memory is etched onto every ancient soul or so, hence the awakening of the Echo.
Perhaps he's just a bit more attuned to these memories than most?

My only hope with Zenos is now is that he lived & there where he lay he has a Goldbez change of heart since the two are quite similar in character arcs & have Zenos look for a new meaning & eventually make up for wrongs he done. As much as I personally like Zenos they really underused him & gave us nothing in game at least to further his character development/past.

He's an incredibly wasted character in this expansion & as of now it just feels like why? why did you revive him if you didn't want to use him other than to remove black rose & Varis from the plot, two things Fan could've done himself.

If they did bring him back what would you want to see from it? It honestly felt like as good of an ending as Zenos was going to get. Getting the rematch he wanted and then dying. He doesn't really want anything. Even after his self reflecting after talking to Alisae, he didn't really shift his priorities or anything.

I mean, EW didn't help with him. He could be more used for something. Bringing him on the last fight/Shinryu + Secret Boss was fun/epic. Though, I was expecting more with him and I just think he deserves a little more to find out the life is interesting.

When he said "I..." without finishing, it was like he couldn't find something worth to live on but I found he really wanted to do it. And I was ready to help him.
Yet it's my opinion tho.

I've never particularly enjoyed Zenos as anything. I'm a smidge fed up we had to have a fight; honestly, would've preferred to just shoot him in the knees and nads, and yoink him by his hair back home, whilst saying "Right, we're getting you some therapy and a new hobby [and a hefty incarceration period, with a lengthy rehabilitation period, and hopefully a lifetime of penance, which, admittedly, will never be long enough]", but no, he's like "FiGhT mEH, I gots NeW STiCk, FwenD". Le sigh.

Yeah. Outside of killing Varis he didn't do a whole lot that was plot relevant. While Fandaniel feigned loyalty to Zenos he was ultimately playing him the whole time, and the whole plan was Fandaniel's anyway. Zenos seemed to mostly be brooding and not actually doing much.

He's also done too much for me to get invested in a redemption arc for him. Responsible for too many deaths, both in SB and in being comlicit in Fandaniel's final days schemes. He has too much innocent blood on his hands and no remorse for his actions.
