actualy, it is the lowest total numberIt's all conjecture. What's your basis for "easily" doubling or tripling the number during peak hours? If peak times are when the most players are on at a given time how are there two to three times more players not in at said peak times?
If 14,000 people are on at the "peak" then that's the peak, not the lowest total number.
again, peak hours does not mean "everyone is on" so it is a true statement at that
and im basis is going by the standard for mmos in general
youd be surprised how many people are logged off at any given time

Spending 3 hours forming a group and climbing to the fight in Riverne Site B only to have your group dissolve after losing one fight? Then, the next time you agree to meet you find that everyone "got in a pick up group, the other day, sorry" and don't want to help you. Yeah, I miss that, too.
Oh, wait.
dont forget the mandatory 1 person who doesnt have cap level gear who enters that 30/40/50 zone and is all of a sudden anked, and then expects it to be ok cuz he shouldnt have to carry lower level gear on him to do itSpending 3 hours forming a group and climbing to the fight in Riverne Site B only to have your group dissolve after losing one fight? Haha, I remember one Ninja in my party accidentally brought one level 30 Katana and one level 31, so he only had use of 1 Katana. That's when I learned that the "1 Katana" auto-attack animation looked badass.

After running an entire ls through CoP missions which was about 40-45 ppl i have no desire to see content like that again after doing all of that content maybe 5-6 times you realize that how flawed it was when put together. Sat down countless hours figuring out how to get these fights done with classes like BST DRK MNK, for every fight because it was poorly designed, because i was not gonna go tell my ls mates hey go lvl smn war and nin to beat x content.
Personally I think if people are saying "They have allready done the drastic changes" those people are in for a big suprise when 2.0 comes out. They've already drastically altered classes, jobs, the battle system, crafting and a little of gathering. Why would they put these systems in only to completely re-do them again? 2.0 is the last of the changes, we've already got most of them. 2.0 is the server, graphics engine and world changes. The systems, I'm willing to bet, are going to be mostly the same otherwise. The direction they're currently going in is the one that they will keep going in post-2.0.
I highly expect XIV to overgo more than just a massive facelift.

Peak hours are when the most players are usually online. So again, it's all conjecture.

While that may be true, a lot of those fights and their frustration stemmed from the most useful abilities being on a 2 hour cooldown, having to farm items, or having one chance at a fight before you have to do something difficult all over again.
If the primal fights have been any indication, this game seems much more forgiving in that regard, they let you retry over and over without having to go regather something or flag the quest again, while still providing a challenging fight.

If we're already basically 2.0 without the boob job then this game is beyond the very definition of Screwed. 2.0 is going to be adding, changing, ret conning, and tail adding like a crazy nutter right as they go for the stars in 14.0 4.0 2.0 RE-RELEASE!

All that's really been stated for 2.0 is the new server system, new graphics engine, new zones and additions like Free Companies, Odin, PvP, Housing. I don't think the core combat systems are going to drastically change between now and then. I really don't see the core design philosophy changing between now and then. They've been catering to a certain audience and I wouldn't bet on that changing. We'll likely see things like multi-party instances or more large open-world content surely but I don't think the core systems of the game are going to change a second time.
