4004 is solved (they looking if they addressed all the conditions for this error tho).

and they will implement a fix for 2002 today at night, looking to increase the amount of players that can be on queue to avoid that crash (that only happens at peak times).

Well you can GW2 basically did just that.

The thing is sqaure wants server control. I'm sure they looked into a aws solution, and said no. Is it I theory possible sure, but they said no so that's pretty much end discussion.

The big issue isn't the queue it's the source code causing various errors. Waiting in line was to be expected aws or not. Even if they could snap magical aws fingers you'd still be likely in a sizeable queue.

I just see a scenario where a company wouldn't use all available resources to assist their customers and maintain the positive image their brand and game had going into EW's launch.
SE chose NTT several years ago as their data center provider for NA, and they were still growing as well. More importantly NTT was likely chosen because they also host the JP data center on JP soil since 1.0 and are a Japanese-founded company. So they likely got a special rate going to one provider instead of having three different ones across the globe. They have a different provider for EU, and we don't know if OCE is NTT as well, but I wouldn't doubt it.

that's what they have been saying for the past few months, and what Yoshida addressed today, they are solving all the errors(explained what's happening and what they doing about each one)but queues won't be gone for months.

everyone knows we going to have tons of players, they projected twice the population from ShB launch (and even with that they knew there was going to be massive queues), but it TRIPLED.

Yep. I can't even do much of my work because of this.

And this isn't the first AWS outage either. It's kind of nice that one of my favorite hobbies is not built on AWS and is immune to going down with it. I think with time we'll get more servers and these issues will be temporary. I don't see another population boom coming since the MMO market would have to expand dramatically for that to happen.

It was explained in one of the recent LLPs or interviews in preparation for EW.

When I first saw this on Reddit, I thought it was an exaggeration, but then I saw this thread. I now completely believe this post from that Reddit thread:

"Software delivery, "server stuff", and especially cloud computing are my primary line of work. When I saw people post about SE moving to AWS, I spat out my coffee, and then posted a screenshot to our meme channel on Slack. They are still laughing their asses off.

Reminds me of some of my clients, and not in a good way.

Go ask Star Citizen how their AWS backend is doing, and how many players a single instance can handle."
