No joke folks, what actually fixed it for my husband was going to his Ryzen PC, and moving all USB objects from the 2 USB ports under the LAN connector on the motherboard to another USB port. After we did that, the DirextX 110000002 error did not reoccur.

I don't know if this is the fix for everyone, but it DID fix it for us. I tried literally everything (see top of page 4) and moving the fr*ggen USB connector to another port "fixed" it.

Just gonna share the explanation of my devolving situation with this error and specs.

    Link to my OP:https://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/...64#post5797664

I've recently picked up FFXIV and have been enjoying my experience of the game thus far. I have had zero issues so far while playing through the main ARR story, I had only gotten a small bit of the way through heavensward's story when I encountered my first (and unfortunately not the last) Dx11 error. It happened during a cutscene and repeatedly crashed within seconds of logging in, even once at the character selection screen.

I tried a few of the easy fixes. restarting computer, and the restore game data options. Neither of which worked. I decided to turn off some of the overlays, as some people had mentioned them to be an issue. I turned off discord and Nvidia G-Sync. And magically the crashes 100% stopped and I was able to play smoothly for two days. (keep in mind that I played with those on with no issue until partway into the first expansion.)

Yesterday, I had the error suddenly happen again while waiting in a 2k person queue, put a stone in my gut seeing that error come up again. But I was able to play a small bit today until during my second ever raid I had the DX11 11000002 error while going between zones in the raid. I was able to immediately get back in and finish the raid, thankfully. And then during the many cutscenes that followed I had it happen more and more. It seemed to particularly happen when fiddling with tabs or opening new ones in my web browser. (again, not something that has been an issues at all until now.)

It has now gotten to the point where my game will have the Dx11000002 error while booting if my browser is even running. It sometimes manages to load if nothing is running, but the second I click off the game on my second monitor (even with nothing on it) and back onto FFXIV it will crash when I click back onto the game. (This has also never been an issue until the error starting terrorizing me.)

I tried a few other fixes (none of the same ones I did before.) I capped my GPU at 60 frames, I turned off windows game mode and the xbox overlay that both come automatically turned on with the OS. I turned off hardware acceleration on my browser, which actually seemed to instantly make the problem way worse. I undid all of these changes as they did not do anything to remedy the situation.

I already play the game on borderless windowed mode, so that fix is not possible. So I'm kind of at a loss, I don't know if the game will run compliantly if I just have only the game open, as that is a complete deal breaker and was not an issue for the dozens of hours before now.

I'm sincerely hoping to get some help fixing this, as I have been greatly enjoying the gameplay and story and don't really want to have to cease my subscription.

Edit: Oh! and yes I have already updated my drivers and windows.

Honestly, my options to try have become extremely limited. I get the DX11 11000002 error IMMEDIATELY on launch now. Can't try any option changes.

I took the advice from the official who responded to use CCleaner. Big mistake.

I'm actually going to go ahead and say under NO circumstances should you use CCleaner. My computer was running fine besides FFXIV borking. Now I'm getting massive spikes in CPU and GPU use after it "removed all the bad stuff." I had to run a CMD scan to fix the corrupted files. Seems to have been fixed, but if not I'll have to do a system restore or fresh installation.

    DO NOT USE THIS APPLICATION.

If you did and your stuff is borked, follow this:
In your search box of windows type CMD.
Right click on the search result Cmd, and run as an admin.

In the command prompt window type: sfc /scannow.

100% convinced this is exclusively a hardware problem, and something about the way FF14 reacts to the way DirectX11 handles hardware errors. I'd bet money that if you remove all your peripherals and reconfigure the necessities into every possible configuration between game runs it would fix this for most people, provided you have some ports that are error free at least.

I don't think anything you do software-wise will fix this. Reinstalling things will just reset the clock until conditions are met again and errors start reoccurring.

Unfortunately it sounds like it's something very much engine related and not easy to reproduce unless your motherboard is wonky.

    Hi All,

Been awhile since I updated but here is some new data. The following fixes did NOT work:

    1) Use Borderless Windowed
    2) Changing Global C State and PCIe Gen to "3" instead of "4".

#2 came up since I have a X570 motherboard and people have complained about USB related issues. These issues can be random disconnects and causing stuttering across the system. I don't experience these issues but didn't hurt to try and sometimes just because you may not notice it doesn't mean an issue isn't there.

    Remaining tests:

Lower RAM to 2133 MHz even though it passes TM5/Furmark brutal tests
    Lowering FPS further
Extending tdrdelay (gives more time for AMD Driver to recover)
    Disabling DX11 [Last Resort]

It took me awhile to post since the errors have been happening less. I will say, I triggered a DX11 error when swapping monitors constantly. I was swapping since my workstation is tied to the same monitors for work and I swap between personal PC and work laptop. My take is that it is very sensitive to hardware state changes and potential hiccups. FF14 will just throw an exception the second something seems off instead of trying to recover. To end users, hardware errors are unnoticeable since software will usually handle them gracefully but sometimes they can appear as random stutters and other odd behaviors. In FF14's case it just doesn't deal with it and crashes. I know FF14 is also extremely sensitive to refresh rate changes like other games since it gets the incorrect value for capping FPS sometimes. I've seen this behavior in Knockout City. It will grab another monitor's refresh rate instead of my main one.

I have a feeling this is a lower layer problem that will be extremely hard to fix and it is why it hasn't been "fixed" for the longest time. I believe the fixes people have found are bandaids to the source issue and are just covering it up.

Changing hardware when the game is running is almost a guarantee to crash the game, it's completely unable to change sound settings as an example, the output is tied to what was the default when the game started, I've never seen any game client being this hardcoded to not being able to adjust to changes, even simple changes like audio source or even USB devices. I've managed to crash the game on command by connecting my phone to my computer, that should not be possible! It's almost like they coded the game to one hardware configuration, and if ANYTHING changes or if the client senses any minor changes in hardware, the game crashes. At least, that's one of the issues out of many. The same thing with refresh rate, it's almost like the client needs to have a stable framerate to not crash, doesn't matter if it's 30,60, or 120, it helps a lot of users but not perfectly.

It's clearly a coding issue, and it would most likely require them to rewrite the client to work better with PC hardware, but they are either unable, unaware, or uninterested to fix it. Honestly, I think they are unaware for the most part, which we can see by the same copy-pasted reply that the "support personal" always gives in every single thread. It's always "clean boot, reinstall the game, reinstall the computer" and then they ghost the thread. They might as well just be bots because they act like it. I don't think the developer receives crash reports, maybe they should implement a system to send reports on crashes, it wouldn't help the people who have issues right away but it would give SE the information needed to actually fix it!

DXVK was actually mentioned by someone else on this forum so I can't take credit for it, fixed whatever issues I had though (no crashes for weeks using it but crashed again within a few hours of trying to play normally).

I don't see why S-E would take issue with using it but I know other games with automatic systems in place that detect these things, have played for a while now so it's probably safe...
because it modifies the files, which is TOS. but hey if it works it works, not that they could do anything about it since it's all local. unless SE installs something that reads your files and reports it back to the servers. this has been a problem for years that the dev team doesn't seem to want to acknowledge/do anything about, so if this helps might be worth a try for some folk.

DXVK is on the same level as Reshade, SE should be fine with it because it doesn't modify gameplay at all and doesn't modify files what so ever.
