Yeah, I just did that and it also reflects on the BIOS. Not sure what parameter said it was older.

In your FFXIV information there is one entry:

SYSTEM_BIOS A.80

A.80 is older, A.85 is the newest BIOS.

Have the same error tried reinstalling directx, reinstalled game, updated windows and graphics card, after the update this error keeps popping up and game exits, The error doesnt popup if i disable directx 11 from launcher. So completely lost here

Everytime I talk to the manager of suites in the Pendants for the quest 'Echoes of a Fallen Star', the cutscene begins to load and then the loading wheel will stop and I get the following error:

I've never had crashes before this and it only seems to be the cutscene that is the issue as after the first crash I went and played the game for about an hour until I tried to enter the cutscene and it crashed my game again. I've tried running the game windowed, updated my drivers, tried running it with Directx9 instead but I'm still met with a crash when it tries to load.

Update: I fixed the problem, using the 'restore game data' option in the launcher did the trick. If your error is also cutscene related perhaps try this, even though it is slightly annoying.

I'm having the same error as OP. Can't even log in for 10 minutes and I crash, either with a "DirectX fatal error 110000002" or "an unexpected error has occurred". I've crashed for years now, with different PCs, but the frequency has increased. System info below.

I fixed mine!!! let me explain...

So I recently came back to the game a couple weeks ago and its been hell, id say I could play maybe 30 mins maximum before a DirectX crash, although often it was much sooner, maybe 10-15 mins before I would get a crash or even a PC lockup. Now everyday ive been searching for answers! ive looked a in a fair few places and tried a lot of whats been recommended here and elsewhere, stuff like...

- Completely removing drivers and doing a fresh install
- Fresh install of the game
- Removed background apps/startup apps
- Run in windowed fullscreen
- Running in DX9
- Removing any OC's, Undervolting

and nothing fixed the issue. The last error I got was...

I remember reading somewhere about RAM, what if RAM was the issue, which at first made no sense to me because DirectX is a graphics thing right... but hey, thought id give the RAM a test and see if she is all good. I ran the Windows Memory Diagnostic and sure enough failures, a few actually. Was weird so I ran MemTest, sure enough failures. Mind you up until now my PC has been fine, maybe an odd hold up here or there but nothing too weird.

Decided to buy some new RAM, I had those sticks since 2017, at the very least it would remove any failures I have currently. Put the RAM in today (its the same Size 32GB 3600 C18) and ran the tests again, both came back fine, 0 failures. Opened up FFXIV and that was 8 hours ago, its still running fine...

So it might not help everyone but it helped me, test your memory. I literally changed NOTHING!!! since the last crashes apart from RAM, no settings changes, no updates, nothing.

The weirdest part is FFXIV was the only game or application to give me any kind of errors or crashes, nothing else, yet my RAM was reporting failures... My PC was perfectly normal in my eyes until I had the failures reported. So I would recommend even if your PC seems fine, run the tests, it cant hurt to check.

I hope I could help someone else, oh by the way my PC specs are as follows...

I posted this a few times but here it is again.

99% of the directx errors are caused by the audio driver usually the cause is a windows update that seems to bork sound driver only for ffxiv.

So what you need to do is uninstall you sound driver ideally clear out registry keys as well to do a clean install of your driver.
