Is the chip shortage now a meme in the community?

Well if the servers are upgraded we would not need a queue. But, what the heck does that have to do with price eggs in china? That has nothing to do with the thread though. When people talk about the chip shortage when we talking about how the queue is coded. It is a deflection.


I already said I have no problems with the queues itself, why are we still talking about a chip shortage that has nothing to do with the issue I have?


No I was reading what you are saying, but saying "Well if we did not have a chip shortage. The queue flaws would not be a issue". That means nothing. I don't like that i got to babysit the queue for 3 hours because of bad coding queue system. The chip shortages has nothing to do with that.

There might still very well be a Queue with the volume of people trying to log in, but it wouldn't be this 2002 mess erroring and Logging people out of the game.
This system you demand, wouldn't have to or need to exist with said upgrade with said chips you dont wanna hear about. You wouldn't have to babysit your Queue for 3 hours, and you wouldnt have to worry about being kicked out of the game and demanding a grace period to log back in and not wait in line again.

Sorry but "upgrading servers and the queues will disappear" is not that easy. You have to identify the bottlenecks first. And where the bottlenecks are, we do not know because SQEX tells nothing about their backend infrastructure. Simply "upgrading servers" can be a waste of money when the network infrastructure is the bottleneck. In this case it is far better to upgrade the network infrastructure and leave the servers as they are.

Sadly, no. It's not a meme. People honestly believe that Square Enix does not have the resources to upgrade their servers and that they couldn't do anything in their power to fix this situation. It's the twitter mob mentality.

Please visit this thread and read the links. I've got personal work-related experience with the global logistics issues and understand that part, but I had no idea about the causes of semiconductor problem. The articles were quite informative and gave me a better understanding of the causes, effects, and global reach of the lack of semiconductors.

My understanding of the situation is back in 2019, the US banned sales of chips to a company in China, sparking a significant increase in orders with businesses in other countries, creating a domino effect of supply problems right before COVID took the world by storm. Even if SE had been able to predict the massive surge of players that would happen two years later, the damage to the industry was done. All anyone has been able to do since then is reduce production and wait it out.

Everyone's frustration with the situation is valid as is their right to express that frustration. It's also valid for people to honestly believe SE have done everything within their power to make this launch the best they can under the circumstances. People have different experiences which can influence their ability to understand a situation more, or less, than others do. I, for one, having dealt with international logistics where I work am able to better understand supply issues than someone who hasn't. That greater understanding leads to greater patience, which, in combination with SE's extremely good communication, helps me have more empathy for the team. Yes, it sucks that we're experiencing these issues. Nobody likes being denied something they want and have anticipated for a long time. I fully sympathize with that. I also empathize with what the SE team are going through and fully believe they are doing everything possible to make the best out of the circumstances.

Hey I kinda want them to make the queue system better. Auto retry when you get a error instead of logging out. Add a buffer if you get dc in game. You can get back in without going through queue.

No offense, but having read all of this, it is PAINFULLY obvious that you do not work in the field of information technology. Nor have any knowledge in regards to what is required for server infrastructure and the resources required for server load and load balancers, for concurrent and incoming users on those systems resources.

If you did, I very strongly doubt your argument would be worded so very poorly.

Yes and no. What in shortage is semiconductors not cheap in them self. Now this do not efect the existing servers and the easy to get parts for them as most servers are 10+ years old.

As you me and op paying even now. What SE lose so far? And it's some what mid difficulty solution. Code it so when you got kicked you stain in a priority system for 5 Min.

They did not know about this huge infux of players until it was too late. Remember they came from WoW which before it happen wasn't suffering player lost until the lawsuit happened. And streamers left. Like Asmongold . That was random as hell and NOONE saw that coming. NOONE! So no SE did NOT know about this huge influx of players. And by the time they found out it wasn't alot they can even do. Not without delaying EW for months. I know you're pissed but think before you say some of the stuff you're saying.
