Definitely this. I keep hearing that 'every MMO launch' experiences issues like this but the truth is... they don't.I understand your point but the issue is that not everyone has that luxury. Some players work in environments where they can't even have a cell phone on them due to compliance (especially true in Finance or other departments that deal with SSNs). I'm fortunate enough to work from home; however I'm on calls almost all day where I need to share my screen and having FFXIV queues in the background isn't something that I can do.
I wouldn't mind the queue at all, not one bit if the errors weren't a problem. However they exist and the errors are unacceptable. Remote login or not you're stuck watching your queue like a hawk to get back in if you error out and that's just utter bullocks to request that of your customer. I have played WoW since Beta and no matter how poorly the game is performing now and the experience is, they never faced this issue even with a larger player base and more concurrent players during their peak.
While WoW would probably have a ton of in-game bugs instead of huge server issues like this, I've never been in a situation this long where I and so many other players are finding ourselves unable to enter the game at a reasonable time.
The long queues are understandable. The fact that the big bad 2002 error has been answered with "uhh just get better internet" without intending to solve the larger problem at hand is not understandable, or even reasonable.
I must admit I love the amount of people white knighting saying "just login before peak hours" or "lol so what?" Not everyone takes pride in being unemployed or working part-time and spending more time playing a video game than contributing to society. Some of us have limited amounts of time and spending hours in a queue just to have the rug pulled out from underneath us is a slap in the face.

This. I've played a few hours Sunday morning and that's it. My job doesn't let me drop everything to check on a game every 30 minutes (even with a remote viewer) and I doubt I'll get more playtime this coming weekend. I hope SE sticks to their word and gives more gametime but I wonder how many people will actually quit as long as they keep handing it out. Feels like I should just take a break for a few months.I must admit I love the amount of people white knighting saying "just login before peak hours" or "lol so what?" I've been here since 1.0 and this is by far the worst expansion launch when it comes to getting in and playing.
Hmm, we've never seen this topic before..
Also, just remember, if you're going throw the term 'white knight' around, ergo, you resort to name calling, don't be surprised when you get called names as well. I know it may come as a shock to you.. but people are allowed to disagree with you or have a different perspective from you.
you know they're having issues. You know they provided you a free week of time to offset the time you can't play. Do something else in the meantime until that 7 days of free time is up or they fix their login servers. It's like if you have a membership at a gym.... and they tell you "hey, there's bees in here and we can't get them out for at least a week.... but we're going to compensate you for those days you can't come in." and you go in anyways and get stung then bitch about the bee's they told you they're having an issue with.
It's more like going to a gym that knows it has bees, doesn't tell you until people complain about it, and they respond "yes that can happen when you have honey in your pockets; btw we're not calling an exterminator, get better bug repellant."you know they're having issues. It is literally 'white kniting' when the response is defending the company with nothing constructive other than "fine don't play." You can enjoy a game or a company but criticize their poor operations; if anything, that's your job as a consumer to hold the company accountable. If you want a company to fart in your general direction and appreciate you smelling it while asking for another then Activision-Blizzard exists.Hmm, we've never seen this topic before..
