Well the good news is that I got the queue to come back. The bad news is that the queue has not moved a single number.

Then unfortunately all I can suggest is to wait a while longer.
Hopefully the idea that you're not alone in this makes it a little more tolerable, though!
That... wasn't really the point of the thread. I'm just trying to alleviate the collective disappointment by offering solutions which I have seen and which have worked for me.
But if you want to go down that route...
No matter how much you and everyone else tries focus all your frustration on the company, it doesn't change the fact that what happened is simply unprecedented. World of Warcraft hemorrhaging players to some JMMORPG? If you told me that back in 2010, I would have cried laughing.
For all we know, changes were made to the servers to accommodate things, and then Blizzard went all 'an hero' and dropped thousands of disgruntled players in Square's lap, leading them back to square one. Or maybe that didn't happen, and Yoshi is living it up in a penthouse somewhere making his own excuses while we all writhe around in a forum about an MMO, and we're just lucky the servers haven't caught on fire. It doesn't matter.
What I said is not wrong and is not an excuse, nor am I trying to defend Square in any way. It's the reality of the situation, and I'm trying to offer solution to make people's lives easier.

Your "solutions" essentially boil down to "try again later." People are well within their right to complain about an objectively terrible system that should have been better equipped to handle server congestion. There is no excuse for the sheer amount of 2002 errors players are getting. It's one thing to be waiting in a queue for several hours. I think we can all accept that to an extent. It's being in that several hour long queue only to suddenly crash and have to start all over again. Unless they intend to discount the entire month of December, this will be an ongoing problem and we, the customers, should be demanding better.

Wow.... You just didn't read anything I wrote except those three words, huh? I clearly explained why the population spike of this year is entirely irrelevant. And you just completely ignored that entirely.That... wasn't really the point of the thread.
