I used to get plagued with 90002s multiple times a night. I refused to believe it was my computer or my router. I've got a pretty awesome new computer and a relatively decent wifi router and Speedtest says my connection is great!
But when I had the opportunity, I had a net drop put in from the router to the wall next to my PC, by a professional so it would be nice looking. (The front door is in the way so it runs through the attic.)
And...... my 90002 errors stopped after that.
It doesn't matter how good your wifi is, it's going to be inherently more unstable than a wired connection.
Little did I know that FFXIV required 100/100 in order for you to login. My bad since I only have an overpriced 50/50 as the only connection I can get where I live.
Strange is it then that when in the game during the weekend I did not get kicked a single time. Guess the login server is much more taxing on our internet connections then the game itself, strange that.
My guess is that this 2002 error is more an issue they can fix but would rather not spend time and money on fixing since they know that with more server capacity that problem will fix itself, I just hope that the problem does not fix itself with many new players giving up on the game before SE can actually fix it. Having completed the MSQ during the weekend, during which I was kicked from the game a grand total of zero times, I know that the expansion deserve to be successful but we the players, fans, and customers deserve a working service in return for the money we provide them.
Why do you assume I am using wifi.... I have literally only ever used ethernet for ANYTHING on my PC since we moved away from modems and RJ-11.I used to get plagued with 90002s multiple times a night. My point again is, stop regurgitating and stop assuming and think why are an abundance of people moaning all at the same time. What because of the servers yeah? SO WHAT THE F DOES THAT HAVE TO DO WITH MY GOD DAMN CONNECTION!!
Connection quality might be an issue for some but far from the only reason you might hit 2002. I have 400+ download, 15+ upload at all times, and I was getting disconnected a lot yesterday in queue as well.
2002's are connection related, but not solely on our side. They can likely be made worse by a poor connection, but it is not the only cause. The server lacks adequate error correction and due to load is likely *itself* dropping packets.I was at a relative's house trying to play. Their internet is garbage with only ~30 Mbps upload and download. I was 2002'd many times and only passed the queue twice in the span of 5 days.
When I went back home, with >100 Mbps upload and download, I only got 2002 once at the title screen (which isn't a connection thing, it's based on there being too many people trying to connect) and was able to queue fine.
This is also in spite of the relative's house being closer to the data center than my house.
It is definitely a connection thing. Thousands of people are trying to cram into the pipe at the same time. When there's this many people trying to do the same thing, those who can maintain a stable, fast connection themselves will naturally win out over those who have an unstable or slower connection.
Sorry. All I can say is keep trying or wait a week.
I receive 5-7 2002's per 6-7k queue. Given how many are reported by my sibling in the same location, as well as friends in other locations spread across the country, I have reason to believe this is consistent. I also believe the forum white knights are drastically deflating the actual number of 2002's they're getting in reality. The VPN on my work laptop, (which is connected wirelessly while my desktop gaming PC is connected hardwired) has been connected for 6 days straight with zero errors and zero dropped packets - and the consecutive pings I've run to other locations while getting dropped from the queue reflect the same.
I'm not 'the god of networking', but I've also done enough network support in my life to know full well this problem is not on my side.
FF14 servers be like
