1.0 Characters w/ Legacy Mark, Legacy Quest content flagging, Fantasia, and more

Hello all, I'm not sure exactly where to put this but this seems perhaps the best place. I am lucky enough to have a Legacy character - that is to say, a character who was created during 1.0 and has the Legacy mark. I don't remember how much I played back then, but it wasn't enough or at the right time to get in on the actual "legacy program" with the Gobbue and the discounted subscription, unfortunately.

However, the one thing I wasn't sure about that I really was hoping to experience was the "legacy quests/cutscenes". One of the great things about FFXIV is that apparently there are special scenes based on what you've done previously around main story and side quests One of the most interesting ones is alternate scenes and text for those of us who played 1.0 - characters remembering us from before and the like. I thought that having the Legacy Mark would mean I'd have access to these scenes, but writing to customer service this is apparently not the case!

I'm told that only those actually in the discounted Legacy Program would be able to see these scenes. Now this is quite disappointing as I thought the neck/back Mark "tattoo" would be proof of my character's presence during the 1.0 era, that others would react to in universe. They couldnt flag my character or account to see these scenes, but they did at least say they'd be escalating that feedback up the chain, but I thought that I'd make a topic about it here as well. Please allow 1.0 characters with a "legacy mark"to be able to see the "legacy" in-game content scenes. While missing out on the Gobbue, the discounted subscription, and the special Legacy Chocobo (which I thought was granted to all 1.0 players unlike the Gobbue which, but apparently that isn't the case) I can understand, it would really be appreciated if all 1.0 characters bearing the Legacy Mark be referred to in-game and see the Legacy scenes/text.

On a related query I asked the CSR if they could confirm for me that were I to use a Fantasia, I would have no fear of losing my Legacy Mark, as I had heard conflicting reports. Unfortunately, they told me that it was basically a gamble, that since Legacy Mark flags were given once, they were apparently not maintained since then. This doesn't seem quite right, so I'd ask if along with ensuring that Legacy Mark characters can see the Legacy flagged story bits, a few other changes. First, to create a more modern Legacy flag that can be applied to an account as opposed to a single character. If an account has the Legacy flag, then all avatars on the account could have the option of the mark. This, along with double checking to ensure avatars of all races have a properly visible Legacy mark tattoo location, means no issue even with Fantasia.

These small changes in light of significant development over the years would greatly be appreciated by those who played during the 1.0 era and returned later. Thank you.

Okay, firstly it needs to be said that the term 'Legacy' covers many different things and which are not always connected to each other. Accordingly, I can provide some clarification on this (the SE Customer Service Centre person was actually wrong and probably was confused about what you were asking):

    1. The special 'Legacy' storyline is only accessable to certain 1.0 players, not all. Specifically, 1.0 players who reached a certain point in 1.0's 'Seventh Umbral Era' storyline: passing the Lunar Transmitter battle in Castrum Novus (proof of this can be found in this official post here.

If you cleared this point in 1.0's storyline then when you transferred your 1.0 character into ARR at the start a different starting cutscene would play with you teleporting in like the 'New Beginning' trailer at Snakemolt, and then walking to your starting city. A few other points in the game have slightly different dialogue (and a slightly different ending scene after completing the Praetorium) but apart from that there is no difference between the 'Legacy' story and the 'normal ARR' storyline everyone else gets.

This story has no connection to the Legacy Campaign (more below), and as stated, is only available if you passed a certain point in 1.0's main scenario.

    2. The Legacy Campaign has no connection to getting the Legacy story. It as you've heard, required a certain amount of subscription to be purchased in 1.0 while the campaign was running, and granted players who achieved it the following perks in ARR:

Automatic day 1 access to Phase 1 of the ARR Beta Test (needless to say, this has long been completed)
Permernant reduced subscription fees for ARR (the Legacy subscription tier, which is the same as the Standard tier but costs the same as the cheaper Entry tier)
An option to have your name in the end credits for ARR (needless to say the option for this has also been completed and shows up in ARR's initial storyline credits under 'Meteor Survivors')
A special unique 'Legacy Chocobo' mount upon starting in ARR
And a 'Legacy Campaign' logo on your character selection screen in ARR

That is the sum of the Legacy Campaign. It has nothing to do with the Legacy story or the 'Legacy Mark' (see below). It is merely a special thank you to those who stuck with the original game while ARR was in development (namely, when subscription fees finally became payable for playing 1.0).

Finally, the Legacy Mark only requires a character to have been created in 1.0 and then transferred into ARR (if you had any available, the option to transfer in your 1.0 character data would be stated upon pressing Start in ARR for the first time). Again this has no connection to the Legacy Campaign or the Legacy storyline - all characters irrespective of level or story completition can be transferred into ARR and will start ARR with the mark on their back, even level 1 characters that never progressed beyond the first cutscene in their starting city.

So please, rest easy, your Legacy Mark has no connection to not having attained Legacy Campaign eligibility or not having the Legacy story (I have heard their is a potential bug with changing character appearence with a Fantasia where the Legacy mark no longer appears, but it seems that bug is very rare).

Either way, I hope this has cleared up the confusion, so go ahead and use a Fantasia as you wish!
