An MMO is set up where all should be able to access so to answer your question, yes, take them down if that is what it requires to fixing the issue so all can play rather than the some that you seem to be ok with from your post.

That is not even remotely true. Practically every MMO, FFXIV included, make no guarantees on the ability to connect to and play on their servers. Even if their hardware is perfect, the underlying Internet infrastructure that everyone must go through to connect to their equipment is far from perfect.

I mean, why not? They gave free days anyway and this is fair to everyone. I think there was a time an mmo got maintenance for a week, forgot the name but yeah.

I understand the frustration, BELIEVE me, I do, currently 4k+ Queue. They'd love to, and have not been working on only new servers, but new worlds in the works, but even paying way over market, they don't have the semi-conductors to do it. This is was an insane confluence of events, and if any one was different, we wouldn't be having these issues.

There's the shortage, which they can't do anything about, because the pandemic caused severe supply chain issues, meaning they can't get the parts they need for the new servers.

Then there's the sheer numbers. The current active player is literally larger than WoW at it's prime. This was cause by a few factors. One, it's a great game, so people are going to play. Second, there's the free trial that expanded that base (That meme we've been throwing around has hit the Law of Unintended Consequences), drawing in people who might have paid for the game on spec, and giving them enough playtime to get through the rougher parts of ARR. Finally, Blizzard. Through a combination of azz-hattery that we've known about for years related to gameplay, and the current Russian nesting-scandals they're going through, a huge section of the WoW base finally said, "F*** it!" and gave XIV a proper shot (added to because, again, super-generous free trial, and it's a really good game).

And just look at Yoshi in the recent Live Letters: That is a man who has been through The Wars. I'm pretty sure he vaguely *remembers* what sleep is, but it's sort of that nostalgia goggles thing at this point.

Why would they release more expansion copies than the max capacity of the server? I don’t put the whole apple in my mouth when I know my mouth is too small to handle it. I take small bites.

It's a product... and they're a business. That's how business works.

It's not uncommon to sell a product to a customer not intending to use it right away or at all - Kickstarter purchases tend to be forgotten about pretty often.

Beyond that, they have stockholders and investors that can force a certain direction for the company and its projects. They can literally cut funding if this thing isn't released by this date by taking their investment back. Even if YoshiP and his crew are virtuous developers, if they allow that to happen then nasty reprimands will ripple throughout the company.

Look, I ain't happy about this launch realistically speaking. People now are working on emotion-based fallacies, and that's not a proper way to feed an argument.

Seeing as queue does advence a a 4elative good speed (depending on server) it mean that more people manage to login when other leave

Whether you like it or not, the goal is not for "some can play" while others can't so if I can play, forget everyone else. I never said the goal was "some can play". The OP suggests adding more servers, but additionally that the game should be shut down until those servers are added so that it's "fair". I am all for adding more servers if that's what gets everyone playing, but that hardly means needing to shut down the game entirely to do so is required. They are not at all exclusive to one another.

The whole "being fair" aspect just seems like a petty reason to make sure that if you can't currently enjoy the game then no one else can either. It's very unfortunate that not everyone can gett logged in, but punishing those that can is not a fix.

Doesn’t jp have a spare servers to spare? I don’t know how it exactly works, but is it not possible to redistribute those servers on a server in Germany? Just not technical, but more on what is fair. I’m more on the part of fairness.

We are on 4 to 5 month lead time for servers for our projects and my work place.

I'm actually agreeable to having having the free trial access temporarily suspended through the Early Access period. It's a little late at this point, but that's likely a lot of players that would be put on the back burner. Would it be a bummer for them? Sure, temporarily , but there's always the option to purchase the full game if you're serious about it.
