A disclaimer: I was and am still intended to stream playing through the MSQ so that factors into the disruption the congestion has made me experience. I don't mean for it to come across as some backdoor self promotion, but as an FFXIV content creator I wanted to have my view of things be heard.
I set aside the time yesterday, Saturday December 4th, to attempt to stream the MSQ of Endwalker for as much time as I could to get a head start, as streaming a game tends to slow progress due to needing to schedule around it more. I did some preparation before the patch (setting up Wondrous Tails and Fairy Beast Tribe Quests to turn in for an EXP bump to help lessen on-screen downtime from needing to level if I hit a leveling block in the story, etc.)
Friday, December 3rd, Prerelease day, I got on in the afternoon before the queues started to get bad to get that stuff out of the way before obligations I had that evening which kept me from starting my streaming that night. I got my EXP dealt with and got Reaper and Sage unlocked, to hold me over until starting my stream.
That evening I started to see how bad things were starting to get when FC mates started getting home from work and landing in long queues. Errors were happening but they weren't really getting bad yet from what I saw, so I went "I will log in early to make sure I'm in before I start my stream."
That did not work.
I got up around 10:30 AM Central Time and started the process before getting lunch. I returned to a 2002 error from there I spent nearly the entirety of the rest of the day, sans a nap to rest from the mental exhaustion of getting my hopes destroyed every error. During prime time I wasn't able to even get in queue, getting the 3001 error whenever I tried.
Finally that evening at, like, 10:00 PM, after over 11 hours of trying to get in I finally made it in. Started my stream late. Played for a little more than 2 hours. Got a 90001 error, kicking me out and then the queue was almost 3k again so I called it quits with the small victory I had.
Like I said, I understand that things are a mess and there's little that can be done at this moment to fix it, but I can't help but feel disappointed that I spend nearly the entirety of the time I had set aside to stream the game just trying to get it to let me play it.
