Yeah, last time they did this it was on X:00 every time, and they would announce it coming every like 20 minutes or so.
(my numbers may be off, I only remember afk exploiters in SB, queues of like 20k, them doing periodic restarts, and the problem IMMEDIATELY vanishing)
~sigh~
So here is the thing.
1.) Everyone that purchased a copy, in my case a PS5 and PC copy of Endwalker is a signal that hey I will be playing.
2.) With that in mind Square Enix knows who purchased and who is on trial. If they cannot support those that actually purchased the game then the free play should be the first to go. I mean we PAID for this game and access.
Next If I am in a queue starting at over 4000 then I should eventually be able to access the game that I purchased on two systems...let me break that down for you. If others have purchased on multiple platforms then the demand will be 1/3 at best and 1/2 at worst.
3.) With the first statement in mind...why is there not the correct infrastructure to support those that purchased the game. Either greed or negligence is at the core. I cannot believe that someone who has had an issue with too many players and not enough servers over four months ago is being blind sided by this.
Open more servers please...as it stands I cannot even play whether I am under the Shadowbringers or the free to play.
Again I purchased two copies and I know I am not the only one.
I love your game I love how you make it possible to get fully equipped and see every part of the storyline and game.
Please don't make me regret burning my bridge with World Of Warcraft.
New servers please.
That's not good. The logout error is already a reset in itself. There is no solution other than new servers, which will not likely happen overnight unless there's a miracle.
It's not unprecedented, and probably a decent chance it'll be implemented within 24 hours if they find it necessary. But, as long as they believe their AFK timers are working, probably not. And, very likely the game considers players active if they're using external programs to automate movement or whatever, so the game and devs have no visible way to accurately determine if inactive players are clogging up the servers.
In short, it might happen, but, with everything visible on the back end, they may determine it doesn't seem necessary.
Personally....... I think, maybe, I might suspect, given how quickly queues drop off later at night, the AFK timers may genuinely be sufficient. Sure, probably some getting around it. But I'm not sure a daily reset would actually solve anything the way some players want.
People play at different times of the day. How would you feel if you were nearing the end of a Prae run only to get disconnected thanks to a "daily reset"? Plus, why would anyone have a need to stay on 24/7 when there's no queue until night time?
This needs to happen. More and more people are logging in early in the day and then flat out afk botting to keep their spot in the game. It's getting so bad that housing instances are getting congested from the amount of people in an inn / private residence just standing there wasting server space.
It worked the last two expansions, anyone advocating against it is either uninformed, or AFK botting themselves and want to keep doing so.
It's a bandaid solution, but given the parts shortages preventing server upgrades, it's probably better than nothing. Sucks for the people who were actually playing, but go blame the AFKers taking up space.
During off peak hours there are 2 or 3 digit queues, so there isn't a massive amount of people using exploits to stay logged in 24/7. A reset in the middle of the night would boot those people who went to bed expecting to still be on when they got up in the morning, but it's not gonna make much difference during peak hours.
I'm not against it if the time off is minimal and the in game warning is sufficient.

You're misunderstanding what is happening. Hundreds or thousands of people log in during those non peak hours, and then set up afk botting shit so that when they come home from work, they skip the queue entirely. But they are taking up a spot in the server all day.
