Yes, they had YEARS to predict a pandemic, cryptocurrency miners buying up all the hardware and a recently huge influx of players from another MMO. Judging from you dismissal of covid, though, facts probably don't mean much to you in the first place.
I keep seeing this mentioned many times here and.. must admit I have been out of zee loop for much time. Though I seriously doubt much here has changed but, crypto miners are not purchasing the same fab space that gets allocated to datacenters and big corporations.
Believe me here, AMD/Intel prioritize fabrication space for high volume orders of incredibly expensive chips miners and consumers never touch.
Imagine this within the mind's eye, you are responsible for management of the production of cpus. You know there is a shortage and only so many chips can be manufactured. Would you spin up the fabs for 50,000 eight core Ryzen chips each selling for 500 dollars that you may not even sell? Or would you possibly take a loss in consumer sales and manufacture ten bulk orders of 5000 dollar Eypc cpus that are guaranteed to sell almost the moment they are packaged?
Yes data centers are experiencing difficulty acquiring parts but not nearly to same degree the average pc enthusiast is. If someone works in the field perhaps they can provide additional insight. Chips are still being manufactured by the thousands, because we cannot purchase them easily does not mean no one can at'all. That is simply absurd and no mega corporation operating properly would refuse to move product. Accept loss of market share yes but to compromise their most profitable product? This is simply not happening.
"The first occurs when attempting to log into a logical data center (such as Aether or Primal) and there are more than 17,000 players in the login queue. This leads to an Error 2002 occurring, resulting in being unable to enter the login queue."
Wat? I suspected issues with database structure but to falter at 17k? I assisted in launching a website that projected 2000 concurrent users only to be slammed by 50,000+ two days after going live. We had no down time.. 17k is umm, what is phrase.. "small popotos".
Being upset about the que is fine. What is not ok is being ignorant and saying SE has done nothing. Anyone with a brain who has read the letters on the main site over the last few months knows they have been.
SE has been trying since like june to get equipment needed for the oc datacenter and to expand the current ones. They have upgraded the current servers to handle more players. Sub players have priority log in over free trias, the world visit has been open so you join any world on your data center with your main. I know reading is hard and all this goes against the anti-billion company narrative.
Fuming and complaining about the log in issues is fine. Spewing uniformed or made up bs is not.

What's going on?![]()
The idea that anyone should care how a company "feels" is laughable at best. Square Enix is a business, conducting a business transaction by providing a service in exchange for money. SE isn't my buddy or my pal, and I do not give one rat's tail about how that business "feels." Regardless of how much any individual or team working there genuinely does care for the satisfaction of the people who play this game, the concept of treating an entire multibillion dollar corporation like a person who can get their feelings hurt is ludicrous.
I'm not even really mad about the server issues. I expected server and login issues, and I expected queues, and while the 2002 errors are incredibly irritating, I wasn't even really expecting compensation at all. I'm happy we got it. And the game itself is actually remarkably stable, once you're able to get into it. I've seen much worse expansion launches.
But all these posts going on about "Karens" and acting as if every complaint is an overreaction or somehow entirely unjustified wholesale are frankly just as bad as any overreaction.
What a horribly bleak take, and one I couldn't disagree with more. This is a video game forum and I'm not here to debate about the value of human life, but I don't think "unfortunate" is a strong enough word to cover how depressing it is to see a conversation about a video game expansion devolve to the point where that's even brought into question here.Humans have never been good. We're a selfish, cruel lot that throws tantrums whenever something doesn't go our way. I only see it getting worse as people become more disconnected from each other. Even if there's a reasonable, logical explanation for the troubles a place is experiencing, people just don't care. There's so many shortages in the food industry where they can't get product from distributors and people throw a fit because they can't get their croissant or whatever. It's ridiculous.
Kinda makes you wish for a Final Days in the real world.

Whoa.. it's fine if you wanna have a different opinion on how the year 2002 is ruining our playtime fine. I made my opinion known somewhere else about THAT. And that I'll always remember it. It's the one sore spot in me right now. Hell I haven't been able to log in since FRIDAY. I just got in a little bit ago. It's the end of sunday. But I lost people to this runny nose you're downsizing. I haven't gotten it but that doesn't mean the people I've lost or millions of others died to a runny nose.
Hearing the crazys but I don't know why
Seeing the maybes but I don't know who
Hearing the crazys more and more
Noone stop LIMSAS BEATS!
You blame the "new people", but I'm seeing a lot of veterans complaining. I'm also seeing a lot of people complaining about people complaining.
Just get on with your lives already.

I always chuckle whenever I see someone making a "NINGEN are bad" post. Like you either need to cut down on the anime a bit, or hello Mark Zuckerberg and hail our lizard overlordsIt's not something that's relegated to SE. You have veteran workers in the restaurant and retail industry up and quitting their jobs because people have just become so nasty. Blame it on social media, the echo chambers, the assumption that everyone needs to be perfect and aren't allowed to make mistakes, and the collective narcissism of society's various groups. Humans have never been good. We're a selfish, cruel lot that throws tantrums whenever something doesn't go our way. I only see it getting worse as people become more disconnected from each other.
