Adults can handle disappointment. This is a company, a business, offering a service, that you're talking about.
This is not your friend, they are not a colleague, or a partner, or even a bystander.
People are allowed to be unhappy with a service, and complain about a company providing said service, when it is not meeting expectations. As much as you want them to get over their frustrations, you really need to get over them having frustrations.
Toddlers throw tantrums.
Believe it from someone who worked retail, there's been no only "negative responses" but outright tantrums in the forums

Toddlers are ignorant to how things work. They know no better. Adults however pay for something that they know about and expect that product to be delivered. Throwing away free money is NOT a adult thing. Or then again for some immature adults it is. I was to be a responsible adult. Not a toddler. Square-Enix and their greed as gotten in the way. They had longggggggg before Covid to upgrade their servers. Sorry. But no excuses anymore.

Saying that SE should've predicted the massive exodus from that other game that happened mere months before Endwalker's launch.
Telling SE to just 'get more servers it's easy' in a time when a semiconductor shortage is plaguing the entire industry.
Telling SE 'just move the game to the cloud bro'.
Acting like SE ruined their life and wants them to suffer.
You're telling me those people who act according to these specific examples aren't ignorant of how things work regarding this situation? That they're not unreasonably stamping their feet?

So from what I am being told by many people in game, SE knew of the server congestion wayyyyy before Covid even started. Now with that bit of info they should have upgraded and installed new servers way before then. A responsible company would have had things ordered and supplied for back up just in case their game took off on a rollercoaster. No matter how we want to word it, SE did not prepare and take into consideration any of this. Which on their part that is poor poor management. So you're telling me that people here aren't being ignorant as to how things work?

Also from what I being told SE also knew of their server issues wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyy back in Stormblood. Again that points back to above where I mentioned they should have had servers ordered and ready for just in case things picked up like they did now. I am sorry, but no amount of 'White Knighting' can fix their F ups.
EDIT.....I am not a professional in servers and how they work. But what I do have is a lot of friends who do work in that type of business and deal with it on a 8 to 10 hours basis daily. I could explain more but I don't want to type all that up. I am just being told SE has ways around it all if they choose to give up the money to do it.

Honestly, we didn't have an issue really until Blizzard imploded, pissing on it's fanbase and cause a mass migration to other games. It had a minor queue of like 28 people but only last maybe a minute max before you got in. Not the fault of Ex-WoW players mind you, but nobody expected FFXIV population to explode of the past few months. So from what I am being told by many people in game, SE knew of the server congestion wayyyyy before Covid even started. You are correct. I am 17 year WoW player. I am super glad that I found FFXIV through a friend. Love it a lot. But man o man these ques and "Error 2002" are quite a bit. But at the same time, I don't SE knew they were going to pick up millions of players in literally 6 months either. But Blizzard turning into a bunch of Booty grabbers is not any gamers fault at all.Honestly, we didn't have an issue really until Blizzard imploded, pissing on it's fanbase and cause a mass migration to other games. I have been playing since 1.0 and had never seen these 2002 errors until Endwalker. Perhaps EU has if they had larger queues? From what I could tell, this 2002 has only become an issue when the login queues have become stressed to this point. That's not to say I am excusing the 2002 error, though they have done several maintenances to try to work on it.So from what I am being told by many people in game, SE knew of the server congestion wayyyyy before Covid even started.
