Hotfix for the sound issues, please

Some of us who are lucky enough to get past the long queues, the 2002 errors, and have enough time to not only deal with it, but also play a bit are finding that since this update, sound effects and music randomly stutter, drop out, or are otherwise rather distorted. It happens most often during combat, but I've had it happen in the inn room and while reviewing old voiced cutscenes.

I've been browsing several threads related to this subject in the technical support forum, and there's been no concrete workaround available for most of us, and no official responses. I've even gone so far as to go ahead and give that spatial audio plugin a shot to see if that would work around the issue. The random fits of stuttering weren't fixed by the plugin, and when it did sound "fine", the plugin just makes positioned sounds very, very weird to me to the point that I couldn't stand to be in our FC house with the orchestrion playing.

I've been messing around with sage and trying out changes to my other classes a bit, but I'm not inclined to even start MSQ when I won't be able to really enjoy the music or voice acting.

I know the issue will take some time to debug and produce a hot fix. All I'd like right now is official recognition that there is a problem and that a hotfix is planned in the near future to fix it.

If everyone else who is experiencing any kind of sound-related issue would post something about their experiences, it'd help make it more apparent just how widespread this problem is. Hopefully we can get an official response soon. Thanks.

Also experiencing the issue here. Loving everything about the expansion so far, but I'm really bummed that I have to deal with this weird audio stuttering and distortion when in combat. All the workarounds offer a temporary band-aid if lucky, but it just doesn't seem to be anything concrete.

I've given it a shot, and it makes no difference to the stuttering with or without it.

Something I forgot to mention earlier: If the plugin is something you want to try during their free trial, you do not have to log out to install, configure, and enable it. You can do all of that with the game running. Just make sure to close and reopen the settings window after installation before you try to enable it (it prompts you to do this during the install).

Ohh... I can help with this one! Go to your sound settings for the device your using and click the advance tab, and change the quality to 16 44.1. Ive heard some people have had success running in DX9 as well. Hopefully square finds this bug and squashes it. Nothin ruins immersion like audio issues.

In my search through other threads, it seems that there is some awareness of the issue as someone posted this link in a thread from technical support:

I'd like for it to appear on the lodestone somehow, but I guess this is enough to back off of this and just make way for the inevitable next new thread about the login issues that almost completely prevent any meaningful conversation about anything else.
