Done- Can't beat Shadowbringer quest playing as other Scions, done with game

I don't really care how many of you say they are easy or fun, I have spent over 2 hours playing the mission where you have to play as a bunch of different Scions, and I'm done.

There's no reason I should have to play them except the Devs wanting to be cute; there's no story in the fight and the whole thing could just be a cutscene

I hated it every time I've had to do it, now I can't beat this one, and I'm 1000% sure Endwalker will have more

Canceled my subscription, paid for but won't ever get to play Endwalker.

Rethink forcing people into this because it 100% ruined the MSQ for me.

To expand: I was *SO EXCITED* when I got into that mission I was expecting a nice cut scene to wrap up what had been some tedious quests. Lost 8x before I quit MSQ and just did other stuff for a month. Lost 4x when I came back and all my excitement is gone; even if I beat it now, the mood is ruined and the fact that Endwalker almost certainly is going to have *even more* since every expansion has more and more of this just makes me hate the idea of even starting the expansion because the whole time I will be dreading another mission like this.

I don't really want to hear any feedback about how you think they are easy or how you like them.

This post is for the devs if they ever read it to know that forcing these long, boring missions on people *is* costing them players.

the solo duties where you can't remap the controller for your muscles memory SUCK.
Ohhh you never played a healer before? well sucks to be you cause you're a healer for this required solo duty. there is no point no additional lore gained.
These are MSQ. these are required to move the story line forward.
I play my character as best i can. I should be able to advance the story line when i play by the rules that i know as best as i can.


If your want to be UBER player great make this hard level or something.

Or let me skip it if I fail it, literally nothing is different if I just skip it and you show me the little cut scenes that happen at the end of each piece

Very sad to hear! I dislike the Npc missions too but mostly coz they have like 4 spells at best which is kinda... zzz inducing!

Am sure, if you breath a little, relax and try again you can do it!

That's the thing I already did that, came back, failed a couple MORE times, then found out there's another stage of it I hadn't even gotten to yet (playing as catboy)

I don't generally like MMO's and I was really loving this game but this has been so frustrating it spoiled my good feelings for the MSQ (which I adored at one point, defeating Elidibus is one of the most narratively fulfilling things I've seen in a game in a long time)

And I *know* there will be more of it going forward so like... why even bother I'm just going to have to play as Thancred at some point and my mood will be ruined again

There are literally 5 other games I can be playing that don't even cost me subscriptions like FF14 does, and putting in half an hour of pointless, frustrating stuff that I have to redo over and over again if I fail is just too much. If you're going to put fail states in then I should be using my character.

Awww. Well! What do you think the problem is? These characters have like 5 spells each and from what I remember the other friendly NPC even does call outs for you!

Honestly, I'm really interested in how you're playing.

Did the SHBs parts in which you were a Scion pose a challenge aswell?

To get back on the actual fight, break it down into parts. It's basically just a 'do x when the moment is right' kinda duty! Other than that just spam a damage spell ( or if youre cat boy, remember you have an AoE heal too!)

Well that's exactly the feedback you need to read.

I'm noticing your join date is this very month. We're only 5 days into the month, and you're already doing level 80 content.

Now they allow skips and all that - but this is kinda why it's a bad idea.

Two things to note here:

Skill in the game for you might not be where it should be for the content you're now doing. Skill comes with practice, and that takes time.

And 2, the story is something you either skipped or rush-played through. So you don't have emotional attachment to it. As someone who played through this over the years - the very quest you're noting was a major high point for me, and for a lot of others as well. Characters we had grown to be strongly invested in became characters we got to control and play, if only for a short moment. And it is a 'call back' to Final Fantasy tradition where characters you meet in the story become members of your playable cast.

If you put more time into the story and the game, this content would have been too easy for you, as it was for many of us. And your frustration would have swung the other way - that you only got to play them for so short a time.

This content was driven by us, the community. This was Yoshi-P giving us long requested fan service. If you took more time with the journey, you would probably have been excited by it. Maybe not as much as those of us who rode the hype train of wanting it for many years, but you'd have some of that hype going into it, and probably more skill in playing the game to be able to know how to handle what, for a player that plays at a normal pace to that level, doing all the assorted dungeons and trials that teach how to spot what to do, would have been easy content.
