This company has done above and beyond most in this gaming environment where most companies play PR and abandon the game months later. Remember Anthem? Who does.

I've been around since the start and this company has done everything they can despite their failures, it's why we have this amazing game, expansion and story you're all so upset you can't play. The heart is there, this isn't Blizzard.

But if an apology isn't enough, go look at every other game company that's giving apologies and come back to me.

Well, everyone is talking like SE should have expected all of this to happen. I have been part of every FFXIV launch and I have never seen this before. If you would have told me that I would have to sit in a queue of 5K and wait over an hour to log into FFXIV a couple of years ago, I would have laughed at you. Even if they did anticipate it, it was probably too late. They probably didn't have the time to get the physical infrastructure in place. However, my only question is... we're in the age of cloud computing where you can literally rent resources and scale them to your immediate needs. Couldn't they just have hooked up with some infrastructure-as-a-service cloud vendor for at least launch? All these people will likely be gone in a week or two. They just want to experience the story and see the conclusion to this story arc. Didn't have to invest in permanent resources.

Yes i dont like "I'm a genius, why you let that all happen SE" too, must be refuges of frat boy culture coming to 14 forums. Not to mention in japan work culture is very stressfull enough, these teens have no idea how much pressure a japanese worker have in a company with the reputation SE have. Japan work hard, work in extreme "mode" everyday, some die working, not because they dont have time to rest, but they value work more than their life, like a workaholic behavior, hardcore work culture that not even America mindset can handle. Japan is more less like this: your a student and need an A to succeed in school test, if you dont make a A++++++ your not good enough. Theyr effort, passion...its insane!

Stuff like this will likely be more of a common occurrence in the future for MMOs in general.

Technology is having a hard time keeping up with demand because there is a heck of a lot more people now playing MMOs than there was in the 2000s and will only get worse in another decade or two decades.

A revolving door of server congestion, that is just my take on it though (I'm likely wrong).

In the IT world , companies this size is nothing. SE may looks big to you, but they are basically you in relative to the big fish on the market. Between corporations, institution, and the crypto currency, multi-millions doesn't mean a damn when you have to stare down and compete with multi-billions industries. You have any idea how much a car maker losing when they have to shut down a factory, and thus how much they are paying to locked down the supply for chips? Do you know it takes "billions" of dollar to set up a chip factory, yet many companies are considering creating their own fab because the loss opportunity cost are even worse? How do you think a company like SE measure up to those?

Stop saying multi-million like it's a big deal. Sure it's a big deal to you with your 5 digits salary, but you're not the one competing with them on the market. In this market they have as much buying power for hardware as you have for a Ferrari.

And who do you think you are for thinking that people don't have the right to take issue with your complaining and calling you out for being an irrational and entitled person? It goes both ways or no ways! So quit your attitude and know your place too before you start spouting off that stuff! Also, if you don't mind, why don't you share that crystal ball of yours that you clearly have so you could have prevented everything that's happened in the world over the last 2 years! Come on, be real! And before you start complaining, I have the right to complain about your attitude and what you are saying. I also have the right to call you out for over simplifying and not even bothering to critically think about something. "They didn't do anything several months ago", did you even bother to read about the things they were doing to improve things there, and successfully so I might add!
