They tried to pay more than market price for more servers but were told none available.

And they informed us of this being the case months ago. So they've been trying and just haven't been able to get the tech upgrades they need. Hell, thank goodness they were prepping for cross-world play because that probably at least has kept their servers from completely destabilizing. Right now the dev team is basically at the mercy of the global chip shortage. Does that mean people can't be mad? No. I would however state that a lot of this is out of their hands.

Anyone thats bypassing the afk timer should have there accounts banned. Maybe then they will learn to respect other players and let them have a chance to play. Only other thing they could do add a offline function where can play the game without being online and use trusts for any dungeons.

What gets me is DCing so soon after sitting in such a long queue. I'm so close to the end of the MSQ, but now I can't play it. I have maybe half a dozen quests left. x_x

Take a week off. By then, people will stop flooding it (basically a DDoS attack), causing to disconnect. You're getting 7 days free time, so it costs you nothing, and maybe you can get some housework caught up in the time.

Had plenty of time to realize they needed to upgrade servers, the influx of players the past 2+ years should have told them something, but they just sat and counted that cash. You realize they are worth probably around 500+ million, if a company worth that much wants something they can get it, just a matter of how much they are willing to spend.

Then you just want to be upset no matter what. Open the launcher while in queue, put your information in, login. Do not press play. If it errors, then press play on the launcher. You won't lose your place.

The best they can do right now is give you extra time. They can't upgrade the servers yet. WoW Vanilla and TBC went through this same thing. WoW Classic went through it too and had layering even. It just happens when games get popular.

I'm not defending SE itself, but the dev team that runs FF14. SE itself is incredibly greedy and predatory and the dev team has to scrape and beg for a lot of upgrades over the years. That said Yoshi-P was pretty clear that the problem was that even with being willing to pay inflated prices they couldn't find enough parts to shore up the servers. He hasn't been shy about saying there isn't enough money allocated to them in the past - he wouldn't be shy about saying it now if that was the case.
