Thread: Huge sale with a twist!

I've had it with the market wards! Even with the changes to the mercantile houses, it's a royal pain to sell anything. The Ul'dah market is constantly packed, and nobody ever uses the other wards, even with easier access nowadays! It's enough to make me want to just NPC anything I don't have an immediate use for, even if it'd sell for 100k+!

However, I am a sensible roegadyn, and rather than just throw all my stuff on the ground, I've decided to hold a sale! Yes, a wide variety of expensive items can be yours for cheap! The other salesmen are going to hate my guts, but I am undercutting like you wouldn't believe, anything to get more than I would NPCing it. I'm cutting me own throat here!

But, there's one little catch. First off, my wares are not being sold in the Ul'dah wards. Secondly, I'm not telling the names of what my retainers are. Third, I am not even saying what I am selling, though I will say that there are a few common items for sale, but about a third of the items listed sell for over 200k in the Ul'dah wards. If you want items at simply criminal prices, you're going to have to search the other wards yourself.

Now, you might be asking "Why post it here, and not in the Balmung servers?" Because this is not just a sale, this is a movement. Buyers need something to get them to take the extra little time to search the other wards, and us sellers need to actually be able to sell our goods, overcrowded wards be damned. So, follow in my footsteps on your own servers! Flex your salesman muscle however you can, and give folks a reason to buy your wares, but however you do it, get them to check out the other wards.

Gungnir doesn't seem to have that problem, I've made about 3 million+ gil since last patch, and my retainer is located in Limsa's mason's ward.

I've had 2 retainers full of stuff in Limsa wards for over a week, nothing selling

I post deeply discounted items in the Gridania wards all the time (30%+). I've been doing it for months. It still never moves.

In short, I'm attempting to use low prices as a way to encourage folks to use the other market wards. If I say what I'm selling they'll simply buy those items, which defeats the whole purpose of getting them to use the other wards in general. If I can pull this off, it should make things more convenient for sellers in general, myself included down, the line. The reason I'm asking for others to give this a shot as well is give buyers more of a chance to find something for sale (I can only sell so much), as well as to spread the idea to other servers.

The problem is that people don't CHECK those wards in the first place. You can be selling for 1 gil and nobody will buy if they can't see you're selling it for that low. Which is part of why I've made a post in the general discussion about it: To tell folks to check out other wards for lucky deals

If it's something I need I'll find it. I usually check all the ward prices before I make a purchase now.
