    Dead people everywhere

I know that SE loves to put drama, heroic acts and tragic tales into their games. But this time i think they overdid it a bit. Sure civilians also got killed during the past expansion and its supposed to be the end of days story wise but this?

The game is supposed to be fun and enjoyable, but if i would be a sensible person i would seriously get a depression from this. Dead people, tragic deads and questionable killings in every zone so far. Im not gonna spoil but during the second half in Thavnir i thought atleast during one scene wtf? It dosnt bother me that much but i can imagnine that a light hearted person would have a bit hard time dealing with that.

Maybe someone should SE how to make great without tons of Drama

I agree. But it isn't a thing that started just now in Endwalker. It's been happening ever since Bozja came out. THAT was my biggest gripe with Bozja: the unwarranted brutality.

Not only are we treated to the wonderful inability to save the guys we're told we're meant to care about for a whole piece of content, they're turned to monsters in mere minutes. And then we move to Zadnor and what do we see? Small cutscene-esque moments of Hrothgars being violently turned into monsters, Hrothgars being eaten alive by a Cerberus. And then there's the whole thing with Dabog. On the other side of the fence we had the Sorrow of Werylt, it just happened to have a slightly happier ending than Bozja ever did. But we still didn't need to see the cartoonish evil bad guy snapping at kids. We get it, he's evil, it's not hard to grasp.

I know a lot of people that enjoy this sort of writing style, however. To them, it feels like the world is "realistic" and doesn't try to shy away from severity. I talked to a lot of people who loved Zadnor because they finally saw the actual struggle Bozjans go through. But to me there is such a thing as too much. It started in Bozja, yes. But Endwalker is just carrying that on.

I know the game is PEGI-16, and it allows for depictions of "moderate violence". And we've had those before. But at some point the violence doesn't feel "moderate" anymore. Though, keep in mind, as I said before, this is subjective. It's all on how sensitive you are and how willing to endure you are.

And also why does it also have to be a drama if SE makes something new? Cant they take a look at other sucessfull games that take a bit easier and more fun approach when it comes to the story?

I disagree with you, I find the feeling I was hoping to get from playing FFXIV and feeling concerned about the fate of the world and the journey with the Scions.

You know, you're a human being with intelligence. It's a decision to put intelligence before just empathy and feeling. You have to learn not to be a feeling sponge, otherwise life is going to be unlivable.

It doesn't make sense to blame any game or movie for wanting us to feel. If you don't feel anything, I'd say the narrative is beside the point and completely failed.

You can't decently reproach a film or a book about war or the end of the world for lacking happiness and little birds. If I didn't feel anything while playing FFXIV and the characters we've learned to care about, it would be a shame.

Are you also going to blame Nier Automata and Nier for not spreading happiness? Or a war documentary that it lacks love?

Reading you, I get the impression that you'd like to live a story about the end of the world without talking about the thousands of people who get kidnapped by the Telophores, the victims in all the camps, the despair felt by people who asked for nothing else but to live happily.
If you want a game that tells stories without emotions, there's no shortage of that.

I am extremely sensitive. After the Garlemald section, I made it to the 83 trial and ended up logging off for the night because it was a little much for me.

But... isn't that the point? The story made me emotions right alongside the characters, and I think that's brilliant. That's the goal. It is the end of the world, and it's a good thing that players are feeling the gravity of it.

Sry but i dont get what you trying to say.

I dont have an issue with dead, war, dramas, happy or bad ending itself and so on. But im honestly thinking that a lot of the stuff that is shown to us during the Endwalker story doesn't belong into FF14 anymore. I think the amount of bad stuff got a bit out of hand and some violent acts shown are simply unnecessary, the story would be completely fine with a different approach during some scenes.

I'm in the same boat, not quite as sensitive to it, but got some MAJOR heebie jeebies at one part. I HATED it, viscerally so, but like... that was the point. So good job, well done. A+ I want more now.
