My favorite thing about people asking/talking about story skips is that there are always those few people that get weirdly passive aggressive and/or hostile about it. Like..it literally doesn't effect you why are some of you heated. If a homie wanna skip, let em skip.

That's not hard to explain. I would argue many of them aren't bothered by it at it. And why should they be, it doesn't affect them. What they are bothered by is someone not seeing things their way and so, therefore, it's wrong or bad and they just have to tell the world how wrong and bad it is and get those hearts and likes. That's the world we live in, today, in a nutshell.

Aye, that is the gist of it. Let people play how they want. I mean they literally sell skips in the mog station already so they know some people don't care one wit about the story. The only issue is that the subsequent story patches are not out yet. Meaning that unless the new story doesn't require you going through EndWalker's post story to access, the people who do skip won't get the entirety of the value of said skip at this time.

This is the only issue I see with this. It took me awhile to learn this lesson myself, but here goes: If something about how another player enjoys the game bothers you so much, why are you playing an MMO? "Online interactions not rated..." is the hint that you can't and should not attempt to control someone else's play style. Telling them to quit is tantamount to a child throwing a fit because another kid has more fun playing soccer instead of baseball. We deal with it and choose to find others who enjoy the game the way we do. It is the only option we have.

Oh, dear. Valid comment and a bad one on my end for giving off that impression. I care absolutely not when people skip story, in fact, I encourage people to play however they please.
Assuming is the least charming trait in personality I'd have said if it wasn't for me having re-read my own post... r(￣、￣；)... I can see why it came across as me ridiculing people for skipping story when I ended the post with "go back to WOW" (I had a sudden flashback of a little meme video lol)
So I will rephrase myself because that was kind of poor word choices on my end; WOW was a 'level up ASAP and do endgame" kind of thing as I am told. FFXIV is story-driven, though not for everyone.
However, my actual point is more of a concern; and then what? Imagine Endwalker skip story and....... waiting for longer than a week for people to get there; and for content to release besides!
The forums would be skipped with "lack of content" while it's not, if it makes sense. Aye I should've written a bit more detailed post than what I initially did, aha, I hope you understand my point now.
It'd be disastrous and negative. I'd imagine. I mean, what is your intake? I really believe it'd be very uneventful for those who wait at the end of the line. And I wouldn't want that for anyone. Nor this game to rush.
Hence, WOW would feel more fun, but, I sounded very belittling about it. Sorry!

I'm truly not, I'm kind of unnecessarily mean and crass, I just also know when I am at fault is all.

It will affect us in a few ways.

1. Those people will have a competitive advantage in finishing leveling all the jobs to 90 faster if they skip the story, thus being able to show off their mount/achievement on social media earlier. And we all know that only the first few posts get all the upvotes/likes/attention.

2. It will create more pressure for other people to catch up to them, creating constant dilemma in those people about whether to pursue the story for fun or buy the skip for efficiency.

3. They can immediately access all gathering nodes, which allows them earlier market opportunities than the general public.

Only the last bit of this would concern me as the other two are vanity. Chalk it up to two issues I could (maybe) have with it. But, then again, I don't bother gathering or crafting. So it really doesn't affect me in the slightest.
