I think the Challenge Theme from FFX would have fit perfectly with his battle, but alas it is what it is.
Nothing wrong with the Endwalker boss theme though! Just a missed opportunity.

Interesting that nobody's said this in this thread yet, so I'll vent my concerns (sorry for the scattered thoughts):
I am still dismayed how Fandaniel purported Anima to hold importance, power, and authority in the realm of Primals, only for it to become a literal stepping stone for the WoL, even after multiple scenes of words and allusions speaking for the height of Anima's relativity to their plot besides the towers- as if Anima itself was to be doing something. Telling me that Varis became Anima doesn't make for any weight. Keeping Anima hidden behind doors and curtains makes me believe it's something more than it is/was. Speaking blunt words about its magnificence makes me believe it must be an actual trial to overcome- something with which the WoL would struggle greatly against.
What of the Garlemald empire's cloning techniques that were touched upon when Emet-Selch made his appearance as Solus at the end of Stormblood (or was it the beginning of Shadowbringers?) I was so very certain that Varis had a comeback plan with this. It's as if it's been all forgotten and cast aside. The largest grievance I hold for the story thus far is it feels as if they're hurriedly showing their full hand. "Hey, remember this? Look! Look!" That said, it's ironic the cloning hasn't been brought up. Also, I very much adored Elpis in its entirety. Great story.

The thing is, ever since after 2.0 pretty much all primals had become exactly just that, another random enemy down the line for the WoL. In 2.0 most of them requires a lot of support/prep to set up the stage (minus Irift). Fighting a primal requires an "operation" to prepare. Levi required Mal putting together their 2 biggest warships, Shiva required half the Isgha army to push to her base. But since 3.0 onward the WoL basically just walk into the fight at will, no prep needed. In short, 2.0 Primal were part of the story, nowadays they're mere speedbump in the story.Interesting that nobody's said this in this thread yet, so I'll vent my concerns (sorry for the scattered thoughts):

Tbh I don't mind the change - that Primal is basically just more powerful then average enemies and not demi-god level but they really need to change the writing to match. Hyping up these fight so much just lead to disappointment.

I'm torn on the subject. The group I was with in that dungeon was all expecting Anima to be a trial fight right after the dungeon, but when we got to the final area of the dungeon and saw Anima in the distance we were pretty let down that it was a dungeon boss. But I agree with some others in this thread that if I had to pick 2 trials for 6.0, I'd pick the ones we ended up with.
Solution to this would be to make dungeons a little bit less autowin. A tough dungeon building up to a big bossfight that really kicks your butt will feel epic real quick. Unfortunately, dungeons are apparently nerfed yet again in EW compared to Shb, and that trend has been going on since they caved in to the lowest 20% on Pharos Sirius and Amdapor Keep.
So, ask for more challenging and involved dungeons, so they dont feel like 20-30 minutes throwaway tunnels with nice optics.

I certainly thought Anima would play a bigger role, I am okay that it didn't but given the marketing I could see how someone who adored Anima excited about the dedicated mention and concept art then feeling a little sad at how quickly Anima rises and falls in the story.

I have been complaining about that forever, and the overworld monsters and their mechanics are still a joke too.Solution to this would be to make dungeons a little bit less autowin. Why make a RPG if you're going to make these monsters this ridiculously easy? I want to know what is going in their minds to think this is ok. Challenges in RPGs is what attracts a lot of people, but they just regulate all of it to Extreme Trials and beyond.
I've tolerated it in Stormblood when I first started, and then Shadowbringers and they still do the same thing yet again with Endwalker. This is too much of a gameplay flaw to be ignoring.

It's never impossible for things to become extreme trials especially with Anima and Magus Sisters. I mean Varis was a duty that graduated to an EX.
I think Anima's treatment was good though, not overtly challenging but story wise was a major plot point, so she got justice for the most part at least.
Magus sisters on the other hand didn't really have plot attached to them but there was more understanding as to what they are. So 50/50 on this one.

I was expected it to be a trial as well.
I was expecting it for Ixion and Yojimbo as well.
Even for Quetzacoatl. Even for Diabolos (which was redeemed later).
However, I am glad they did not rely on franchise's fanservice for the trials in this expansion specifically.
Before playing EW, I also was expecting the 4 Fiends to play a role in the trial series in this expansion.
And now I have to say: please do something exclusive to XIV.
