Endwalker Early Access Is As Bad If Not Worse Than New World Launch!

(After 8 years, I know alot are going to make disparaging comments, say for me to quit, or things around those lines merely for voicing my observations. I love FF14, and I only write this post because I want them to be better)

From Oct to Nov while still subbed to FF14, I decided to join a Youtuber I know to play New World. I played New World for over 890 hours on record. Now let me get these points outta the way...

New World is a flawed game. It has exploits, bugs, and a whole assortment of other issues. By in large today, FF14 is the more superior product. Yet if I do a honest comparison of launch day on this new MMO(reminder that New World is a new MMO, not one that has been around for 8 years), New World was better. Why?

Because during launch, you would not get constant disconnects like 2002 errors just trying to log into the server or waiting to get into game. Now, there were disconnect issues but nowhere in the same magnitude many are seeing with FF14 right now.

Now, I am not going to make some claim of "I QUIT" because this will eventually get hashed out. But to Square Enix, you made a amazing expansion for the time I could play in on Friday...but this is the worst EA many paid for in 8 years.

Many other companies are also facing chip shortages yet they are still releasing games with massive number of players logging unto those games servers. Yet like my exp. with New World, those other games have issues but not having their customers access the game for most is not one of them.

You dropped the ball...

To be fair to FFXIV though New World is built around the cloud tech from Amazon Web Services and when their servers got overloaded they were easily able to open new ones since AWS has server farms all over the world...really, really good ones.

So it's not a very fair comparison.

New World is a very broken game in many ways and is coded poorly but one thing I can't knock it for is its servers.

Dude, New World runs on AWS. If there is anything that should be top-notch in that game is the servers. They probably use a lot of AWS in their server architecture, so they can spawn servers easily. SE is a company that makes games, Amazon's main thing nowadays is servers and a myriad of cloud services. They are the biggest IaaS (Infrastructure as a Service) providers on the planet, and not by a small margin.

Do you think SE couldn't hash out arrangements with Amazon if they wanted to for example be on AWS or the hundreds of other IaaS providers to prevent this issue i.e. Arenanet(Guild Wars 2) migrated to AWS like 2 years ago.
I swear, white knights will make any excuse to stan against legit criticism.

Well yeah New World didn't have the pre order numbers to really gage they launched with what they thought was needed and it was wrong, however the queue while long functioned. Ours does not.

I (regret now) played New World from launch till a couple weeks ago when Void Gauntlet came out.
The state of the servers there on launch was absolutely disgusting. And to make it worse, a flaw in the UI of the game smashed a flaw in gcards causing them to massively overdraw voltage which led to these cards being seriously damaged, all because people were stuck in muiltiple hour long queues in a menu so badly coded that it set a graphics card to max draw.

Then the cheats, exploits, bugs, perks not working and other perks doing things they shouldnt (Hi resilience), War lag making the prime feature of the game literally unplayable among a myriad of other issues.

And then to make things even worse, they decided to cap a Server for an MMO at 2k players.
Then when those servers inevitibly filled in a heartbeat, told people to roll on any server in any region and promised region transfers would happen. Oops, sorry they *lied* region transfer didnt exist and wasnt planned.
And when that didn't fix the queues, they enabled a ridiuculous quantity of worlds (They didn't add servers, they belong to Amazon. They had the servers prepped beforehand and just flipped them on when everything was on fire) which by the way, due to their complete lack of management and foresight has caused a huge number of worlds to be so depopulated now that only 65 people are on my server right now in peak AU time.
65 players in a game where Wars are 50v50, split into 3 Factions and is an MMO where all the geargrind is done in group content.
And to this day, the game crashes on World Select, Character select and the Welcome Page, often several times before allowing me to actually load into the game. So not only is the endgame an endless daily circuit of elite chests for +1GS upgrades for a horrific watermark system, but even logging into my character is RNG dependant. Faaaantastic.

And now for my Endwalker Early Access experience:
- 8pm rolled around. Opened client, logged in and downloaded patch (10 minutes)
- 8:10pm, logged into datacenter and hit with Error 2002.
- Reload client, log into datacenter, select character and placed into a queue of 2700
- 8:40pm, zooming through MSQ.
- 2pm the following the day, realized i should probably sleep and logged off after spending 17 hours straight logged into the game.

And in all that time, not one single bug or other poor game experience was seen.
To top it off, 5 minutes after logging into New World i discovered a Wood duplication bug by crafting and salvaging Wooden Swords, 1 Wood to craft, Salvages into 2 Wood regularly.

But yeah, absolutely, New World was obviously the superior launch experience.
