"In from the Cold" Scenario, any way to skip it?

THAT is the biggest issue, spent ages running around in circles with ZERO idea where it was. There are sparkles everywhere but in a huge city block and loads of adds, you are meant to work out where the fuel is whilst on a timer?

Its easy to find a needle in a haystack....when you know which haystack to start looking in.

Quest was fine, they needed you to experience powerless and being Zeno's chew toy. 30 minutes is plenty of time to find the items as well.

I honestly didn't mind that quest. I think I only used 3 healing items(1 regen and 2 potions) by avoiding the majority of enemies - their line of sight really isn't as far as some of the other "remain hidden from" things, and finished it pretty quickly. The timer in the top left corner was at 13 when I finished it.

My second response: This guy would be totally screwed if I wasn't in control of his life right now. This guy would not survive any of these encounters, he'd be dead.

But why was it needed? Take this quest out and what would really change? IMO nothing. The tempered garlean people already proved to be quite the distraction. Even with the WoL there it should not have changed much. And after all was said and done this never was spoken of again. Nobody even mentioned it later and the WoL seemingly did not learn anything from it at all. They dont have flashbacks to show how horrible that was for them, nor does it unlock any new abilities.

And its not like Zenos would ever use that again, since he wants to fight us at our very best. Sure he thinks its a great experience to be in another body...but just because he thinks that does not mean that others will think so too and we do see that our character is not really fazed by this. (And we already had our scenes in Stormblood that showed us powerless to him.)

Also it opens up the question on why this was never used by the other Ascians. Why did someone like Elidibus, who wanted us death at the end, not simply portal kidnap us and throw us into the void or something. In ARR Minfilia got kidnapped because the protection in the headquarters were gone after the sealing of the blessing of light. I always just assumed that we did get some kind of protection towards such things but seemingly we dont and the others are just stupid.

Because he's trying to provoke us. And it's working. He's literally toying with us. There's no other great reason. His entire character after he got his ass wooped back in Stormblood is to get wooped again. But he wants us to come to him ourselves, otherwise it's not fun for him, he wants us to focus only on him and unleash everything we've got without any distractions.

On this quest rn and contemplating quitting too.. I dont want single player elements in my mmo.. I just wanna lvl up asap and be done with it so I can start doing dungeons and stuff.. if I wanted a stealth survival horror game, I would not be playing an mmo ;-; . I do not think I will bother finishing if the rest of the quests are like this...

This whole expansion has exposed the fragility of the player base. Some take this game way too seriously. Others need to seek psychiatric treatment as seen in a thread referring to a certain scene.
Gather your composure. Evaluate. Most importantly; calm down.

Honestly, that was the only quest in the entirety of Endwalker that I enjoyed doing. Would you have preferred yet another escort mission? Or follow someone 20 feet but make sure they don't see you?

The instance was different. It was stressful, but I felt a great sense of relief when I beat it. It changed how you had to approach the instance. You couldn't just fight your way through it. You had to be patient and pick your battles. Is the risk worth the reward.

It may not be everyone's cup of tea. I'm not particularly fond of stealth missions, but I actually did enjoy that one. Felt very accomplished at the end. Especially having not died.

This. The Scions for the most part cannot keep up with us nor are on our level, and this becomes apparent if you do Trusts. Why they don't AoE, why they don't attack while moving, why they wait for an attack to go through before going back, why they have so few skills/spells/abilities, there's a reason other than a technical standpoint. Because they themselves are already pushing themselves to the limit fighting a single enemy, dodging attacks, and have a limited amount of moves that their bodies can use at any given situation because any more might push their bodies too much. Estinien and G'raha Tia are the only two Trusts who have actually been able to transcend their limits to a degree, through Estinien's temporary fusion with Nidhogg and G'raha Tia's century of knowledge and experience as the Exarch, and are actually closer to our level than the others.

This leans a lot on gameplay inconsistencies. What makes trusts more indicative of the other Scions abilities than duties or cutscenes where they can get away with pulling room clearing abilities out of nowhere that honestly embarrass the skills of the jobs we get to play as the WoL? I'll not get specific, but it surely doesn't take much thinking to remember an instance when we had to buy time for someone to charge an attack that destroyed everything on the battlefield. Sometimes they don't even need us as a distraction and the power gets used to save us. It happens all the time in FF14.
