I really enjoyed this duty. I really like roguelikes and I kind of got that feeling from this.
I hope they expand on this later and and in some more roguelike mechanics, like finding and utgrading abilities, increased hp etc
Well done.

This entire thread is one giant scrubquote. I have no idea how you can be so bad at this game

To be frank, it was indeed implied that she probably could see something was amiss but at its best, it was like trying to see through a thick layer of haze because of the surrounding environment being clogged by malicious aether from the nearby tower, thus obscuring her vision & effectively her judgments.I just did this quest and it was awful!
Yeah I felt the desperation and helplessness and really fumbled through the sequence, but at the end of it all it felt like nothing really happened. Everyone at the camp is just watching. Like there was no questions, emotions or anything.
“Oh, you’re back to normal? That’s great.”
Also, they could have gone so many ways with Y’shtola’s aether vision but it’s just “oh, I discovered it too late”
Smh….
Heck, even back in ShB our WoL was carrying so much corrupted light aether that it virtually obscures our corporeal aether, making Y’shtola think that we are a Lightwarden approaching the woods.
While i don't find the duty as amazing as some, and the whole way it happened is beyond dumb ( ascians can just teleport and knock out the main character because they feel like it? what? The writing for this expansion is just.. yikes) the idea that you are upset at this because ... you actually had to play the game in between hours and hours of walking around and talking to npcs and you happened not to succeed immediately....
I just don't understand... wtf do you people play games for? Do you also load up a game like solitaire and let the AI play for you? Though this dev team has fostered the community to think like this no doubt. What a mess.
Before the nerf, it was kind of a troll move if you got to fuel containing magitek first but couldn't get the fuel unless you already been to the magitek with the damage legs.
A lot of people just seem to kinda be missing the point of the sequence and Zenos as a character.
it was offering you a perspective of how the Garleans view/ viewed you.
To the Garleans you were basically Zenos, that's also why he says that you're essentially one and the same because you're the Zenos to the Garleans.
You're this ultra powerful demigod who just shows up and wipes them out en masse with ease ( which includes their loved ones and friends ), to them it's no different than Zenos slaughtering hordes of Domans or whatever.
Or what he was threatening to do in this sequence.
Whether you like Zenos or the sequence or not, a lot of people don't seem to actually understand what was going on in the narrative and what it was actually saying about you and how it was offering a perspective that was very relevant in the actual plot and what was going on with Garlemald and the Garleans.
Zenos is you without any emotional support, without the Scions.
You started out as an adventurer just wanting to get excitement in your life but the Scions changed that and your character in the narrative built connections with them and found a different purpose.
Zenos never really left that phase, he's basically a reflection of both the WoL at their core and also you as the player and how we interact with content ( or well, those who enjoy Savage and such I guess. But games in general. ).
I found him to be quite refreshing too in FFXIV in the sense that he didn't have soap opera reason behind why he did what he did his motives were just raw.
And how it leads him down a bad path too plays into the overall narrative in contrast with you.
I love Emet as a character too but not every character needs to be that, and I liked that Zenos called Alisaie and the others out on it too.
What does it even matter, it's honestly a tad selfish to demand some soap opera explanation as to why he did what he did it's more about making ourselves feel better about it but it doesn't really change anything.
This goes for real life bad stuff that happens too we always want reasons why bad things happen but it's more of a coping mechanism.
And we also do the same things constantly in video games, FFXIV included.
If you really think about it the WoL has done some really messed up stuff and ruined a lot of lives we kill pretty indiscriminately.
I mean in Copperbell Mines we just go in and kill a bunch of old enslaved giants because we're asked to and then later we show up again and kill a grieving dad.
Sure we see a lot of bad parts of Garleans but we also see a lot of bad parts of '' our own '', the story is full of horrible people on '' our side ''.

The quest did a good job at displaying your character's power level vs the power level of an average Garlean soldier. And why you are so monstrous to them. Every fight was a potential fight to the death, wheras your normal self could have wiped the floor with each encounter with barely a scratch.
Puts things in perspective

I absolutely hated this duty. I did refuse to put it on easy tho and got it my 2nd try once I realised you were supposed to use the magitek thing.
That said, in Stormblood Zenos gets put into a Elezen and makes it all the way to Garlemald AND overpowers Elidibus in his body. If Zenos can be full power in another body that doesn't have the Echo wth can't we? We are the warrior of light and should be able to do pretty much what Zenos can do at this point.
Never underestimate the power of plot and any related armor.I absolutely hated this duty. I did refuse to put it on easy tho and got it my 2nd try once I realised you were supposed to use the magitek thing.

That said I still have no clue what the point of zenos is at any point in the story because if it was to pose a counterbalance to the WoL's hefty plotarmor, then Im sure there are better ways of going about that.
