Unable to log in, canceling all payments

    Question is...
If i cancel payments to FFXIV NOW, what is going to happen? Do i risk being "crowded out" for good?

Like many, I get server connection error since EW started, ive been trying all along and i was able to queue for two hours max before error, by now numbers barely ever go below 7000 when i get kicked out of queue.
As world was full every day before (short qs with 50-100 waiting but still full), i think its going to take months before i can play again (when all those 7k ppl finish EW and get bored). With such long queues and constant server connection kick outs of queue, it is a hopeless battle.

SO as MUCH as i want to play what i paid for, at this rate i dont think ill be able to anytime soon, and once i start a "replacement/comfort" game, i wont look back for months at least anyways. I had a 4 month hiatus on FFXIV before when i continued to pay all along because "ill get back on it next week, just gotta finish this other game quick" and so on. I dont want to repeat that.

Im just kind of afraid how that will impact my account if i go out now when the game is so full and on high demand...

I hope me giving up and accepting defeat does a favor for all others (and the server itself) but i dont want to be set back/lose anything or even lose the inactive account itself due to my space being needed or something, i really dont know how server population works..

I think i will want to play FFXIV again in the future, after ill finish whatever else ill get hooked on and actually have a chance to log in after others have finished all the new content, but i am afraid that if my account goes inactive now and unpaid, that i might lose it to the masses pressing for place in the world, be it justified "making space" or some glitch due to the high loads and inevitable errors.

Is there such a risk, can something like that possibly happen?

If you cancel your subscription and stop playing the game for some time, you can come back whenever you wish to start paying and playing again.
They are not going to delete your account, nor will it be more likely to suffer some technical problem than an active account.

If you have a house in the game you will lose it and all the furniture in it if you are away from the game too long. (45 days without entering the house, then 35 days to pick up any furniture.) But that is the only thing you risk losing if you go inactive.

The problem with overpopulation is not the total number of accounts - there must be millions of inactive accounts - but the number of active players logged in at once.

Yeah you wont lose your account just for being inactive. The only way to do that is to get permanently banned or manually cancel your account (which you CAN do). You can unsub and resub at any time.

I understand being frustrated, I am too. But, if this is your idea of how to solve problems, please, leave the game, the community is better off without you. There is no room for such outright ignorance of the situation involving the game, just because your immediate attention cannot escape the circumference of your computer chair and you're upset about it.

I imagine SQENIX is currently scrambling as fast and as hard as they possibly can right now to offer a solution, even if just a short term one to allow people to play. What you have to realize is this is Early Access, a rough launch of the expansion is going to hurt more if they can't find a work around.

So just sit tight or leave, the choice is really yours.

I swear apologists are more toxic and hostile than the people complaining.

I literally couldn't agree more. I like FFXIV and the team behind it and whenever they do good things I let them know, but whenever a company messes up we must also let them know. Being unable to play the game is really bad and it's inexcusable for a company as large as Square Enix and their response to it has been terrible thus far.

Indeed, I don`t think ppl realise if noone gives feedback they will preasume people are happy , even if you get few odd ones no one will care to fix issue, or blame it is ur internet connection or what ever. But, if more complains are posted they will feel pressure to come up with solucion fast, and they have lots to lose . This expansion is car crash with no seat belts on . I wonder if sytuation it is how it is and we wait for hours to log in no one says anything , pay money for subscription, and acutally we spend few hours in game per week if you lucky, if customers won`t complain they wont fix issue . We stuck in queue for hours , they getting paid. Of course there is difference between complain and pure drama queens, been reading through some funny shit while queue , soon might find suicidal threats cos they can`t play.

this is why after decades of mmo's the problem persists. people like you perfectly willing to fork over your money to get shafted, and think we should be thankful for the opportunity to do the same. if i buy something at a store and it doesn't work, i go back for a replacement or refund. why do people seem to think software is different? i returned dragon age 2 for a refund, and yes if i end up being unable to play all weekend, i'll leave and get back the money i payed for endwalker as well. why wouldn't i?

Ah, i completely forgot to reply to you. I just wanted to ask you to please consider not attacking other people too who are stepping aside.
Yes, this is the best solution to this problem.

Leaving a crowd is literally the best solution to congestion problems. Always were, always will be. We, whos "immediate attention" CAN "escape the circumference of our computer chair" as you put it (unlike those who are so fixated they accept queuing all day), are the biggest help, you are welcome. It is beneficial for everyone, those whos queues get that shorter as well as the servers being less stressed, and so on.

The only thing i can assume that could possibly upset you in this win-win situation, is that i think people shouldnt pay for what they arent using, and apparently you do? You know, there are also people who only have a certain amount of time available to play, because they work or go to university etc (you know, life) and all of it is eaten up in the queue due to long numbers and errors. Should they keep paying while this situation lasts and they can barely ever play, if at all? I think not.

Do not worry, there are PLENTY of active people remaining to more than sustain the game. Then, after the buzz dies down, we are the ones coming back to play.
So please, stop harassing those who dont want to pay only to be stuck in queue all their available time and decide to go inactive while servers are overstressed. It only helps.

(oh and btw, i decided to do pay while not playing at the very least all this month, for THEIR kind gestures towards us)

Brother, come back when you are able and willing; don't cast your pearls to swine, he was undiplomatic the first stroke of his keyboard in replying to you.
