There is a system that keeps your place in line. Except it doesn't work sometimes. That, or the grace period is less than a minute.
If I get 2002'd and immediately relaunch the game, I'm either at the same number I was at before the error or I actually moved up in line.
not here and plenty of peole said the same this morning it had seems to have worked but maybe it was just luck to get back arround the same place. now I get kick at 2k and come back 15 sec later at 4.5kIn my experience it does appear to hold your place, even if if takes you several tries to get back in. That being said, it does appear to be tied to the character, not the account. (you can't choose an alt on your next try as that alt was not attempted previously, and thus the alt is put at the end of the line)
I have yet to have anything except an alt get put back at the end of the line if I attempt to come back in after we get the general lobby bug error. I'm usually put right back where I was last time... just as long as I log in with the same character.
That being said - I'd really appreciate it if the whole thing didn't expect a complete re-launch of the launcher every time the error occurs. That's really been the only thing making me gnash my teeth in frustration.

The Queue itself will save your position if you log back in instantly. But if you're booted from the game or it crashes, you're back to a full queue. In my experience it does appear to hold your place, even if if takes you several tries to get back in. Yeah, I just found this out. I got kicked from the queue around 425 I think. When I logged back in my place was 119. Must have been stuck on my screen before it booted me.
And I'm telling you that's not what I'm experiencing. It'll sometimes take as many as a dozen tries before I can get to character select (and having to restart the launcher and log in on EVERY kick), and it saves my position. Heck, I even had a time when I got kicked, but was told by the wife she was getting in line, so on my next log in I selected my paired character who got put at the end of the line. After sitting in that line for 15 minutes with my paired character, wife told me "Screw this, I'm not doing this tonight", so I dropped my paired character, went back to my solo to discover SHE STILL HAD HER PLACE IN LINE.
So regarding the Original post - yes indeed, it does appear to hold your characters place in line for a significant amount of time. I'm not sure why it's not working for you all, but this PC player appears to be having no issues staying in line while playing "will the data center log me in" roulette.

Update: 3 hours later. Down to 340 queue. 2002 Error. 4 attempts to relog met with 2002 errors. Finally back in, been here for 10 minutes.

sigh, finally got in, after 5 hours. Crashed again due to fatal Dx11 error after 20 minutes...back in 6k queue. Done for the day, may just unsubscribe until login queues are reasonable.
I will legitimately put out a 1 million gold bounty on anyone who can resolve this crashing issue for me. I've tried literally everything that google and reddit threads have suggested.

they should be if were paying to play they should be fixing it not looking at it
