What Datacenters/worlds doesn't have insane queues?

There has been no evolution from "they didn't expect it" to "semiconductors" because we knew Square Enix couldn't get the semiconductors they wanted months ago. The combination of an explosion in population combined with not getting the hardware they wanted was always the reason

Pretty much all the US servers seem to be ok with queue of around 30 mins its the EU servers which are getting slaughtered cos we only have 2 data centres and less servers on each data centre

Not Diabolos, I can say that much. lol Been waiting for around...20 minutes now I think? Probably have at least that long left to wait, if not slightly longer. This is about what I expected though, to be honest, and even this is a blessing compared to other servers/data centers. I sympathize with any EU players right now though. That sounds like a god awful situation.

This should also be a strong, STRONG, indicator of how SE just could not have anticipated these troubles. It wasn't that long ago that EU players were complaining about how the new worlds and data center split resulted in longer duty queues and the feeling that servers were just empty.

Somewhere in the last year or two, EU population has exploded, and that is not nearly enough time for them to react accordingly, even in the best of times.

Both are not mutually exclusive, we don't only have less data centers we also have less servers per data center. So we reach capacity more easily with high traffic and have less people around during lulls because we have only 6 servers as opposed to 8 for US data centers and 11 for Japan.

Our servers have been packed for a while, it was not a mystery this would happen. We didn't suddenly become a continent overnight.

Alright, insane queues etc etc, so what Datacenter/World can you currently play at that has decent queues that doesn't kick you out while you wait?

I'd rather play the game in some extent compared to not playing at all, even if it means creating a new toon on a new server/world

Mostly going to depend on what time you're trying to log in and what datacenter. Another contributing factor worth consideration would be whether or not it's been confirmed that there is a popular streamer on said world/datacenter as the ones that do probably have it worse than the rest.

Aether data center - 10pm Eastern time I had a tiny Q of 50 players, got in easily. Ran errands all day, came back at 5pm to get slapped with a 2000 player Q. That raised to 5000 later I found out, likely because the west coast got home.

Today I'm seeing about 3000 in the mid-afternoon. I suspect it will be like this all week until people's PTO runs out.

So glad I'm not somebody who takes time off for game releases....

While true, it remains that the active population has grown much faster than could've been predicted. You've got less data centers and servers, but, following previous trends, you shouldn't have hit this capacity so quickly. Chances are pretty good that, if your servers truly have been packed for a year or more, plans are already underway to increase capacity. It's just not something that will happen quickly. Setting aside shortages, they still can't just decide "need more servers, get 'em up by the end of the month."

I can empathize with the plight of burgeoning servers. But, folks can't just dismiss how quickly growth has exceeded expectations. Nothing in the history of the game could've prepared them for a region needing to upgrade capacity again so soon. Reiterate, again, because there's already been more servers added over time for EU than any other region.

Growing pains, yo. Fingers crossed, once they've got OCE up and running, you'll be slated for a few more, and, fingers crossed, the region can sustain that active population enough to justify more.

I'd be for an auto "pick me the fastest line" option. Like "I don't care where, just get me in". Rather than me having to pick a server I think isn't that populated, find out the queue is long and have to back out and go back in all hoping there are no errors or other issues due to that.

Honestly this issue is standard for all major releases and at least the servers are not exploding like other mmorpgs have often done, so we're doing pretty well comparatively at least... but... I'd be all for even more options to be "it just works"™.
