Alright I have to jump in here for I found too many good juicy things that people are looking at and saying was not the cause or wrong. so here goes:

semiconductor shortage has made buying new servers problematic for EVERYONE. I just recently got a new car and found out the dealers are barely holding their lots full, people are trading old vehicles in for new cars and for the FIRST time I saw USED vehicles in the SHOW ROOM! USED VEHICLES where new vehicles always are (this was not a used dealer). This issue is also affecting stores like best buy as well they have tv's and monitors, and barely any computers but want a new graphics card or cpu? not going to find much unless you're lucky! Saying that this shortage is 2 years old, the company should have known there would be an issue, 2 years ago or a bit longer back no one EXPECTED a full world wide pandemic to rage across the world killing thousands more than normal. tie these two together and companies are struggling to get what they need. FF14 did not blossom till a good bit later, and at that point though they wanted to get more, including making a new DC for the oceanic people became even harder because the needs they had were backordered ALREADY. then this year Texas gets hit hard in feb. with weather forcing several chip plants to SHUT DOWN, and then a fire in one plant in japan made it hard to keep chips going. this chip shortage will be looking to get some better in mid to late 2022, and probably clear up in late 2023 or early 2024! how is it that with orders that are waiting for chips are being filled as fast as possible can square make them go faster???

Now another thing, I will not tell anyone to stop their sub or vote with their wallet, but I will support them in that decision. That is only fair. Now to the nature of the EARLY ACCESS: Fine you aren't supposed to have access normally when you order something early till the actual date. Well what is it you are paying for? the expansion that is $40 us? or $60 us? Depending on which you got, now is that the normal price? YES! so on top of what you would NORMALLY get for paying that much you are granted a minion (minor) and an ear ring that lets you level faster (MAJOR) and also get 3-4 days of early access..... hey that's GREAT you paid nothing more for it. that means these are free and the first two was given just because you said you'd order it when they charged you!!!!! this was 24 hours of problems to log in. but really wasnt as I was able to log in easily around 10am eastern on friday then had 2000+ when I got back from errands around 3-4. then i still got in... later at night i was logging in to my stream character, and i kept getting booting so i had to cancel the stream and that could have been 100 bucks for me! but i wasn't mad I just did what I had to. I kept trying finally switching to a character on another world i got in and played for hours. I then got up today (sat) and at 12 my queue was about 100.

The servers are STABLE and not bouncing people except early on in extreme issues. You are crying over a 24 hour period that you had access to for FREE that cost you 50 cents or less USD! Again I am not saying that it is good, nor should it happen but the conflux of issues and people wanting to get everything they think were promised to be 100% available all the time. Vote with your wallet, but REALIZE that you may be doing it for the wrong reasons. do as you think but don't blame people and companies when things long before today were in short supply and think they can pull miracles and get equipment where there is probably none for them to get at this point.

Stop yelling at people that do not agree with your opinion and stop passing judgement without the FULL knowledge of what is going on! And not a single one of us knows the exact information here... The queues that you see are only what's ahead of you, not what is behind you. so you don't know how many have logged in now if you were seeing that you are X seat of Y people in line then you might understand, if that number Y exceeds a threshold the server acts for self preservation and dumps everyone in that queue. I agree you should be able to come back within a certain time and get your position. but that is not how it is for pc and I get that is frustrating. I will say while i've been playing the game play was stable so there is that, the content is there to be access but the number of people wanting to access at the same time is the problem.

I love that you're telling me I need to relax for saying that these queue times are not it and that the state of the login problem feels bad. Gurl I love this game and I want to see it better which is why I'm giving critiques.

At this point I'm convinced half the people reading my post aren't even reading and are just assuming I'm mounting an attack against SQuenix. If you think I'm yelling instead of critiquing then idk what to say.

and what pray tell would you suggest they do ? they mentioned that this could/would happen. was to be expected. heres a thought instead of just complaining about it, why not give some constructive criticism with possible solutions. can you think of any that they havent already tried ? maybe list those instead of just posting problems of "wah, im gunna take my ball and go home"

I have absolutely no experience in deploying servers in an MMO environment nor am I qualified to make any kind of suggestion. As a paying customer all I can do is give feedback that the current state feels bad and that their measures aren't enough. That is my subjective experience and opinion. I made this post to let the FFXIV team know my thoughts and feelings considering none of the options on the survey after unsubscribing described the reason I'm unsubscribing.

No, you come in here saying "Oh, I don't care about this, and that or the issues." You are literally just throwing shade for the issues they are actually trying to fix, and I only quoted WoW, because, most new people ARE coming from there. Why do you think the ToS got updated and bans left and right? The exact toxic stuff they did in that game. And I didn't compare quality, this game's quality is vastly superior. So stop the pity party, and quit raining on everyone's parade cause you want instant gratification and decide to start complaining because you have a login queue, LIKE EVERYONE ELSE.

The ToS didn't really get updated. It's mostly been that way. They just finally made their guidelines public.

I was not specifically speaking to you with that comment as it was a general comment about everyone that is just jumping on people no matter which side. it is all over the place in various threads. honestly with the exception of the queue issues the over all launch seems fairly good. When things die down it will just be a bump in the road. though people should realize that the 3 day early access is really a bonus and not a given. they paid no more for it and being upset about it is not the best

Honestly all this bickering back and forth is ridiculous. Bottom line, the game was delayed 2 extra weeks to account for all of this. Yet we’re still having horrible server problems. It’s expected yes because it’s a major expansion it’s launch yada yada but i find it interesting how other companies are capable of getting these parts to upgrade the servers. Like someone else in this thread said, it seems it was a matter of SE just not wanting to pay for it. I understand if they can’t do much now, but the fact is people did pay for this service, they paid to play the game. Some compensation for all of these issues would at the very least be nice. Especially considering many people already had to waste vacation time due to the delay and now we can’t even get on on the actual release. It’s utterly ridiculous at this point. 9000 queue in EU. EU servers have been minimal for a long time not just this upcoming expansion, they had numerous chances to upgrade them and chose not to, this is on them.

It was delayed for more QA time as well as to TRY to mitigate this issue. They never said they could solve it in that time, but they made the attempt. a computer can only do so much, have so many users accessing it, a server is just a bigger computer in the long run. You are correct the bickering back and forth is ridiculous. both sides put down the other and call names and attack. we just need to work with the situation and just get by sure queues are long, but that is NORMAL in an mmo as popular as this. New World had longer queues and they had just as much vitriol about a game that just launched. SWTOR when it came out was besieged by people that during it's making supported the decisions and then decried the result of those decisions: like we do not plan to have a dungeon finder queue to be like WoW and then when it came out people cried "where is my dungeon finder!??!!" and didn't like the game. then when these people hit end game they cried why isn't there more to this? well they skimmed by everything only doing what they had to in a rush to get to the end game, and missed all the extra story that was put out in other side content, yet their content was actually fairly deep for a brand new mmo. but they expected 7 years of content on day one.

so yes it's ridiiculous, but there are problems that none of us even know about in the development of this ex-pac.

why not take a break and relax and do something else? it's not like you paid for the early access, that was over and above the expansion cost you paid. I hate that it keeps kicking me out of my spot as I queue. perhaps that will change soon for pc, i dunno.
