I’m perfectly happy sitting in a queue when an expansion releases, but I’m not happy when I keep getting booted from the queue after 5 minutes, then relog to be even further back in the queue, only to get booted again.

I guess the white knighting will stop once the Karen army finally get to speak to the manager. I am surprised that after all the hype for EW, after the playerbase explosion on 2021, and after the very public problems with adding servers people actually managed to be caught off guard with server issues on patch day. Amazing.
In a perfect world it would be great if we all got to log on with ultra stable servers and no queue but this isn't a perfect world. It will calm down reasonably quickly and it wasn't hard to predict the first few days would be rough. Sometimes we have to queue for popular things, it is what it is.
Those people who avoid auto-logout with shennanigans deserve to be forced to only listen to Simon Cowell's music forever, that's how scummy that is.
I can’t even queue. It won’t let me.
never they are 1 of 3 things.
fan boys that cant see or hear.
payed actors to make it look like most like the game and its just you that don't.
trolls.
Love waiting hours in a queue for an EARLY ACCESS i payed for just to repeatedly keep being kicked over and over again just to be at the back of the line.
Started off at 2.5k NOW 9k+ in queue
Have to agree with OP a bit, getting kicked with the 2002 error after being in queue for hours is not very fun and i do wonder why they didn't add a "keep your queue spot" for like 5 min if you get the 2002 error.
Edit: From 5000 in queue to 3500 and i get error again.
I'm 100% fine with waiting in queue to get in but this 2002 error is just ... sigh..

Not a comment that's FFXIV specific but there are a large number of people who simply see 'consumers' as outspoken vocal minority babies that should just burn their money and be happy that the fire was supplied.
And to be fair, sometimes consumers can expect a bit too much or have unruly expectations. It's just baffling to me that people who aren't being paid will defend a company to the teeth when something is blatantly going wrong. We're allowed to be pissed off with a service if it's not working as intended.
A long waiting queue is entirely expected but telling us to 'appreciate' constant error codes and being kicked to the back of line requires a certain suspension of disbelief on my end. I suppose some people just have time and money to burn.
It's also not unreasonable to want to vent that frustration, especially if you're particularly passionate or have expectations. I suppose having an emotional reaction to something makes you a petulant manchild nowadays! How toxic. :3

You're allowed to be pissed off... other people are also allowed to disagree with some of the stances these pissed off people will take. That's what baffles me, always the mindset of 'if you're not as pissed as i am and don't entirely agree with me you're a corporate puppet'.Not a comment that's FFXIV specific but there are a large number of people who simply see 'consumers' as outspoken vocal minority babies that should just burn their money and be happy that the fire was supplied.

I see a lot of people saying 'they should have seen this coming'. They did. In the same way a stalled car sees the train coming.
They saw the unprecidented growth numbers. They admitted, not just to us but to shareholders, they would attempt to acquire equipmented. That equipment just doesn't exist, not at any price.
Unfortunately, the Pandemic is still causing very real consequences. It's not an excuse, no matter how tired you are of hearing it, it's a reason. Many industries, not just video games, are having issues. The fact of the matter is they're likely on a list to buy servers. Why did other games get their servers? Simple, they were either higher up the list or likely had those servers waiting to be repurposed from other projects.
They said that if the servers hit 17000 log in requests at once it would give people a 2002 error. That's what we are seeing. However, the grace period to reconnect seems broke as some people manage to recover and log in while others end up at the back of the line. That needs fixed. But outside of that issue the servers are incredibly stable for a launch.
Problem is the servers have been pretty garbage for 8 years. This is not something that should have been address during the pandemic this is something that should have been address 8 years ago. They saw the unprecidented growth numbers.
