OMG, please do not start an AMD vs. Intel flamewar here.

And there are reports that Intel CPUs are also affected in very rare cases. The AMD Bulldozer is affected mostly because the architecture of this CPU type is very special. Unfortunately the CPU cores share many things like caches, FPU units etc. and it can quickly lead to bottlenecks. This is the resaon why this CPU cannot unfold its theoretical potential in real world applications and Intel CPUs were much better at this time.

But the real reason for the problem is, that they have screwed up some things in the client. Again, with the information that there were "some digits not adjusted correctly" you can assume that they use a wrong data type somewhere. And processing of this data type can be slow on some CPU types.

    Cheers

Thank you! You said it better than I could have. At this point, it doesn't matter what CPU you have that is having trouble. Square literally said it is on their end, not ours. So debating what CPU has it worse is moot point and a waste of time. Just sit back, chillax, and wait for the fix.

You're skipping over posts then, slow down and read them thoroughly.

This. And on that note, Square recently made this post on Eternal Bonding restrictions: https://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodes...8c8d4b1d07e380

I never pay attention to these kinds of posts, but some friends seem to think that the density of potential emergency maintenance dates within the same week(s) was unusual. We're already past the first group of three dates. But, theoretically (big emphasis there - I don't want to get anyone's hopes up), they could use any one of these emergency maintenance periods to push a hotfix. It might not be related at all, and even if it is, it might take longer than they expect. We should NOT let ourselves be disappointed if these dates come and go without the audio being fixed. But can anyone who regularly looks at Eternal Bonding restriction posts comment on whether this is a particularly strange list?

Before anyone asks, yes, I am painfully aware I am grasping at straws.

I think checking these are important, so I don't think you are, imho. Whether or not anything happens, it can give us insight to what could be going down. I always take a peek at them myself.

Just stumbled on this thread and wanted to chime in because I am apparently the Intel unicorn here. Just built a new system tonight with a brand new 12th Gen Intel(R) Core i5-12600k. Audio drivers updated (from Gigabyte's driver site for my exact motherboard). Graphics drivers updated (GeForce RTX 3080).

Ran a Trust dungeon to test things and audio started stuttering about 5-seconds into a 4-mob pack. Graphics were fine. Turned sound off and did some troubleshooting and, after nothing simple worked, I "solved" it by signing up for the Immerse Spatial Audio trial and enabling it. Instantly fixed the stuttering.

Re-ran the dungeon toggling it on and off to see its affect on my CPU. With ISA on (no stuttering) CPU utilization was steady at around 20% in combat, lower out of combat. Turning ISA off in combat caused immediate stuttering and CPU utilization climbed to 25%. Too bad that the sound effects sound worse with ISA than they did on my 3-year-old rig.

I'm not going to go out of my way yet to find some crazy hardware/software setting fix to get around this.

EDIT: Getting the latest Windows 10 version updated (something I was struggling with last night and hadn't done before logging in to FFXIV) appears to have fixed my stuttering without needing to use ISA.

Thankfully, you won't have to since it's not a problem on your end. :3
