However, if you do get it all working, there's the added benefit of no crackling sound bugs already! Also possibly better performance on most rigs, but this should be nominal and YMMV.

Mine live in the region that doesn't have FF14 on the steam unfortunately, but i hope i can work it out using the standalone... but that's for another day, thank you for sharing it ^^

Also back to topic at hand... i wanna give an update that if you put the settings to low and follow some recommended options that the community manager put in this thread plus use DX9, mine having low chance of stuttering issue, might be helping for some players here that wanna try... my CPU is i5-8265U and Intel UHD 620, so there's the information for you guys... hope it helped

Does the audio crackling happen to most people, or is it just for a fraction? And people with Bulldozer CPUs are all/mostly affected? Those AMD processors had notoriously poor single-thread performance, perhaps not dealing with CPU latency very well for audio.
I can replicate it under the conditions of having the SFX muted in various content using a xeon x5960 overclocked to 4.2Ghz,
but my living room setup with a xeon 1680v2 at 4.2ghz struggles to replicate the same increases of cpu usage (that said i was testing off-peak)

    Same on FFVII remake

I also have the popping issue on FFXIV. Im on fx-8350 and rx580.
Just a funny thing i wanted to tell.
I get exactly the same popping/audio stutter on FFVII remake on pc.
Luckly on that game it is possible to solve the issue opening dev console
and using the command au.SetAudioChannelCount to some lower value and then everything works fine.

For Linux to handle something game related better than windows is certainly a first for me though, really interesting. (Not to mention on a game built for windows!) Maybe the move off the sinking ship might be sooner than I thought.
Thank you for testing this! Sucks that it didn't work though

Yeah, I was completely surprised that Linux worked better than Windows here. I'm not sure that's ever happened to me before. Sure, I can get parity with Windows in most games, but less buggy or better in Linux?? Never, haha.

Ah ok. So it affects a wide variety of CPUs (perhaps all?). That's really unfortunate. Doesn't seem like there's much people can do on Windows to help with this annoying bug.

Here's a toast with a beer, whilst waiting for the fix to land! Cheers!

I've also been having this problem ever since Endwalker dropped. I've tried dx9, lowering bitrate, reinstalling the game, reinstalling my own drivers, setting low graphics, and lots of sound setting fiddling but I still get the sound stuttering. Dialog is timed pretty tightly so with the audio clipping on and off characters only get to say about half of their voicelines before moving on to the next line. Visually there are no problems, but I would really like to experience Endwalker in full, especially since the soundtrack is what drew me to the game in the first place.

    Potentially relevant specs:

    Motherboard: 990FXA Gaming MS-7893
    Processor: AMD FX(tm)-6350 Six-Core Processor (6 CPUs), ~4.2GHz
Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750 Ti

Let me know if further information would be useful in any way.

Nothing you can do but wait for the fix from devs. Well, nothing except upgrading your prehistoric machine. lel

in any other current game id agree with you, but if the benchmark says you can run it, you shouldnt have weird audio or visual bugs.
especially in a game thats about a decade old.

and not only old cpu's are affected, the problems on my ryzen 5 5600x aren't as severe as others but it still lowers the quality of an otherwise fantastic game.

Actually encountered someone during Trial Roulette who was suffering from choppy audio to the point they had to mute their end and pausing to do so got them killed...
