I've finally gotten around to doing some more thorough testing on my end (spoilers: none of the fixes worked) and have submitted a bug report including answers to your questions. Here's hopin'. I'd like to bring up the request that a legacy audio driver be looked into, as many others have suggested, but of course I understand that it might not be technically feasible. However, it's been three weeks and the only fix to this issue has actively made it worse for many. An official statement by the team via Lodestone would go a long way to calming people's nerves.
