Mine is an Intel i9-12900K running 5.2GHz with 3080TI video card, 32GB of DDR5 and a PCI4.0 NVME SSD. Looking back the youtube posted a few pages back, I often get that small weird little stutter at about 2 seconds in that video, and at a few other points, but not the severe ones during the trial. I also get periodic muting of the sound for up to 1 second.

I think the small stutter exhibited at 0:02 and the large one in the trial (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sfW74sQtF5I) are of similar origin, just recovered from at different speeds.

It's not something just related to old computers or AMD. This year's Intel i9 is also getting it.

This isn't an issue with low-end systems, minimum hardware requirements or upgrading. It's a software problem with the way the game handles audio. It can theoretically affect anyone, but it disproportionately affects certain hardware configurations, particularly those with AMD FX cpus. We have people in this thread (like the poster right above me) with brand new machines having the bug, and I have even seen people with Playstations complaining of the issue on twitter. You can read more about it here: https://www.reddit.com/r/ffxiv/comme...eb2x&context=3

    They employ these guys: https://www.ptw.com/
    Who are a dedicated QA.
If dedicated QA joint does not have variety of systems at hand for testing purposes, they need to be sacked.

This problem can affect everyone. But the faster your computer is, the less likely it is that it will occur.

And i would not judge SQEX for not listing this problem in the "Known issues" section. If they would list all known issues then this section could fill a small book. And the other thing is ... players with a Bulldozer/Piledriver-CPU are propably a very tiny minority of the whole playerbase.

    Cheers

Apparently existing audio was not good enough for that bullshit of a system, so they made a hasty deal with embody to "enhance" the spatial shit.
Even if this fixed the issue 100% I would not buy it, I game to lounge, to relax, not stick what looks like a VERY uncomfortable weight around my neck.

Yeah I have a Ryzen 5 5600x and also facing Audio problems, not as bad that it makes it unplayable but still very annoying. It effects mostly ambient sound (which i can turn of) and some skill effects in combat (For me its Assize when there are a lot of enemies around me). Ah and de Glamour Dresser sometimes also bugges out.

Just an update with my own experiences switching to DX9 instead of DX11. I did that yesterday. I came in game and first wandered around Firmament where the SE from all the crafters usually stuttered, and heard no stuttering. Then I spent a long time running Trusts with no audio problems. Then I started doing daily Roulettes. When I got to the Alliance roulette, during two of the fights the sound stuttering problem returned. That was the only problems all day.

So in Summary, in my experience I CAN still have the problem with DX9, but it is far better and at least playable compared to with DX11.

I refuse to swap to DX9 because while the audio stuttering is not as bad the game runs like garbage.
I'll have random freezing, crashes, and twice now a boss didn't even load in during a Trial. I can target them, and any effects are still there, but they are invisible to me.

I have finished Stormblood and its patch content today and had NO STUTTERING/VO CUTTING OUT during all of the cutscenes. The problems stills comes up in combat but I can deal with that. It's barely noticeable for me atm. Before overclocking my CPU, 85% of the dialog cutscenes had been HORRIBLE. Constant stuttering and audio popping, with acted out lines being slowed down to a point of cutting out halfway through text. Sometimes it would be a constant ear rape and nothing more - it was THAT bad. I have no idea how I was able finish ARR, with addition of full HW, and most of SB. Surly, that has reduced my potential enjoyment of these storylines but that's in the past now. Now I'm ready to have fun with Shadowbringers as that's the one expansion everyone praises over all. Can't wait!
For people still confused on what to do - I suggest you watch this short video as it explains what to do rather well: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=owrc2WWZS9w
CPU I own is AMD FX 8120. For it I've tried few different set ups but the one that seems the most stable is 4,1 GHz. I'm confident I could go higher but I really didn't wanna increase voltage control in BIOS as I use a dogshit stock cooler. I had troubles with overheating in the past. I'd also recommend changing your power plan to BALANCED (Control Panel > System and Security > Power Options) if you also have a shite cooling in your machine. It might feel redundant but I swear it helped me achieve peace regarding the sound issue.
Apologies for a chaotic comment but I'm tired AF, been up the whole day. Once again thank you Xenophine, and I hope others might find this useful. Good luck!
I don't want to repeat myself nor spam but I advice you all to try this out if you truly have horrible issues with your sound. It doesn't take long to try yet it might save you from long lasting annoyance.
