Got a notification through the ingame support desk about the bug report I submitted.
Same response everyone else got. Decided to go into my house and lowered graphical settings to the lowest they could go. Closed all additional programs. Sat at 135 fps near my Orchestron and the audio didn't improve even in the slightest.

The in-game notification requests that a follow-up bug report be made if issues persist. Please do submit those follow-up reports if you've done any additional testing, or have any new information. Personally, I've found the "speak to other players" suggestion particularly enlightening, and since it really does seem like the devs aren't looking at or being forwarded the information from this thread at all, I've included a link to one of MiaShino's posts in the (perhaps painfully naive) hopes that those suggestions will help the team.
same issue here, got an AMD FX-8320, first time I logged in the sounds in general was horrible, swapped to DirectX9 which fixed the sound for most activities except combat, finally I went back to DirectX11 and tried the trial for the spacial audio pack which fixed the sound issue during combat but instead moved the sound issue to cutscenes.

When i click off the game to click on the forums, all the audio popping (and audio from the game) are magically gone!
Thanks Square Enix! This solved all my problems! /s

Usually only because I read someone elses newest Idea and to test it out. Therefore I saw the message. Already did my Bug-Report follow up.The in-game notification requests that a follow-up bug report be made if issues persist. I don't like the way this is being handled, just as much as everyone else, therefore if they ask for a follow up they will get one and I included everything they asked me about.
Because I still feel like they're just trying to stall us until something can be done, but the faster and more willing we are about providing information the less options they have to simply and repeatedly blame our systems.
EDIT: I wouldn't call myself tech savvy so your guys work and specifically MiaShino's insights (and Elliah-Seraheart execution and brainpower) have been great to see. I'm glad you're able to work together to test things I would not be able to.
I still wish to provide my PC data and tests just as another source of (probably) a different PC setup than you got covered.

Agreed, it's a SLIGHTLY better option (and even then not for all), in the same way I would rather have one leg broken than both. I've used it a bit more now and sound is muted, the water analogy I've been hearing makes perfect sense now. No way am I buying it after the trial, just hoping it gets fixed before it runs out.I downloaded the trial Embody as well a few days ago.
It doesn't get rid of the crackling 100% and the audio in combat and sound effects sound like crap now...
But I can do Trials/Dungeons/Raids without popping, though going inside my house makes it sound like the game is dying and there's slowdown/choppy music when loading between zones but stops as soon as I portal in.
It's not a solution.
Honestly if people can do for FFXIV what they're doing for FF7 Remake on PC, I'm all here for it.
6.01 ended up making it worst for many, and made many who were fine now experience issues.
I'm legit worried for 6.05 now.
Like I'm actually scared 6.05 is going to make it even worst somehow.
I feel like despite having options, I have zero options.
I could buy a new computer sure, but we've seen 2019 models having issues, so what if I buy a new PC and the issue exists there too? I'd be screwed then for FFXIV.
I have a PS5, but they're having their own issues so I can't just spend money on a keyboard/mouse/headphone setup, hook up the PS5 to my television, and play from there. Because it too could have issues!
Every corner I turn, there is no guarantee!

Just add that I'm having the same issue all the time, doesn't matter where i'm the audio is shitty... and no response yet from the devs?
