I'm so extremely happy I could cry. I don't wanna jinx it of course, but I can play with my sound on again!

A side effect of the issues was that sound buffers were not available to play new sounds properly leading to them being dropped or distorted.Early testing is extremely promising on my end. No issues whatsoever in the usual spots. I think we should probably wait a day or two for more people to do more testing before saying it's 100% fixed, but so far so good.
Side note, but does the audio actually sound better to anyone else? It might just be placebo from not having played in a month, but I'm surprised at how clear everything sounds and I think I'm noticing more small/ambient sounds in various places.

Only had about 10 minutes to test before running to work.
Early tests are looking really good.
Set audio position to 40/100 and went into my house and immediately started casting assize + holy as white mage and nothing stuttered.
Loaded into Limsa and Radz and got no stuttering during the loading screen.
Then went into Deltascape 4.0 solo and messed around and had no issues there either.
Will do more when I get home but now it's time for work.

We need to stress test everything to make sure.
Someone run Alexander and The Fourth Circle.
Oh... and try a Hunt Train.
If it can now handle a Hunt Train, we should be golden.

My sound has been stuttering and echoing and lagging since 6.0. I tried everything, running a virtual audio cable, DX9, lowering settings, changing listening position and the equalizer off and then back onto Standard, lowering the bitrate for my headphones, repairing the game files, just absolutely everything. Nothing ever worked, even the 6.05 patch that said it fixed it.
I ran World of Darkness today and noticed I wasn't getting it, so swapped all my settings back to normal (except for the virtual audio cable because I don't even know how to go about uninstalling that,) and it didn't come back. And to top it all off, I did a Hunt Train for 2 hours today with no stuttering. It seems like it's fixed for me at least, though I'm still worried about some people saying they're still having issues.
I plan to go back and rewatch a couple of cutscenes now that I can hear Soken's music in them and not just stuttering and dropped voice lines.
Turned my Listening Postion back to 11, as 100 is so annoying to me. Area 2 of first EW Dungeon was fine when it would 100% trigger it before with the Trust System. Did the first EW Trial with players and no issues there either.
Not sure what to think as I changed nothing on my system and the patch from them fixed it, yet they don't agree when I ask for some sort of reimbursement of my sub, even partially for the time most affected.
I want to be happy and I'll try, but currently I'm a little burned by SE.
Good luck to everyone, I hope it works well for anyone who got affected and may you all enjoy FF now to the fullest! Blast that volume all the way!
I absolutely agree that some form of reimbursement be paid! We have had to go through an entire expansion story with little to no sound and that is not what we paid for!Turned my Listening Postion back to 11, as 100 is so annoying to me. Nearly two months later and a false benchmark and they think they didn't send us a faulty product that should be reimbursed? lol
