I decided to level smn/sch first. At first i was like "ehh this is a little simplistic" but once i got a flow going it felt pretty alright. I feel like Aetherflow needs an extra stack or a reduced cooldown though.
For a minute i was wondering what tri-disaster/ruin were even for, but i hit a small gap in between the cooldown of phoenix/bahamut.
I will say, The gem abilities probably didn't need to be extra buttons, could have just replaced ruin and tri-disaster

I feel like a lot of people's opinons will improve at level 86, Astral flow which is normally reserved for Baha-men-ut and Phoenix now gets an ex-egi variant. Which each come with unique effects and mechanics.I decided to level smn/sch first. At first i was like "ehh this is a little simplistic" but once i got a flow going it felt pretty alright. Titan gets oGCD town, Ifrit dash slam jam, and Garuda with lil-kansas.
I really feel that's when people are going to not think Summoner is way too simplistic / only press one key (as the job moves pretty quickly before 86 but now you'll have 3-4 more new abilities each with their own gimmick, level 86 gameplay wise I look forward to the most). Maybe still not a lot of different keys on your keyboard (but it will be a bunch of different spells), though I genuinely think that's a neat part of summoner being so condensed now (I don't always need to have three full bars lol, having some jobs be tightly knit into morphing keys is nice).

I think this is a fairly good point. The queue has been difficult I'm one level away before I can test these out. While it might really be what the job needs to feel complete it does mean the job is going to be rather boring before max level. Not ideal since I'm a filthy casual that runs leveling and 50/60/70/80 roulettes every day.

They should be learned at level 78, not 86. 86 is way too late to break up the monotony of Ruin spamming.I feel like a lot of people's opinons will improve at level 86, Astral flow which is normally reserved for Baha-men-ut and Phoenix now gets an ex-egi variant. Personally, in shadowbringers I used to be able to play all jobs well enough, minus black mage and summoner. The first seems complex to me because it's rotation changes every few levels, and summoner seemed too complex to play properly so I never grasped it. But now I tried the new summoner. At first it seemed so easy it felt wrong, like you were playing any other job badly. But I gave it more chances and now it's one of my favorite jobs! I always liked simple jobs. My favorites are red mage and dancer for example. In stormblood it used to be samurai, it flowed super well, but in shb they overcomplicated it and I stopped liking it.
Summoner now feels very easy, yeah, but it's super flashy and kinda fun, because it lets you focus more on the fight and not on the hotbar. Not everyone will like an iteration of the same job. If you liked summoner for it's complexity, maybe try other jobs, like I tried summoner now because easy jobs are my preferred playstyle.

On paper it's decent, but it seems as if they stopped in the middle and called it a day.
- Carbuncle does nothing itself but being a medium to swap in an egi + 2 CDs
- What's the point of visually swapping to an egi if you can only see it's model during the initial attack, and after that it's back to carbuncle?
- Might as well remove Ruin at this point because it just plays utterly meh in that short window where you've used up all egi attacks and Bahamut is still on CD
- On my lvl 80 summoner there's no skill ceiling in sight, like at all
Overall yet again another step towards homogenization and trivializing, so that even the most casual end-user still does well.

I like the new SMN, i only wish it had more Abilities to use actively, like more "pet uses x" skills which differ whichever form youre in. Also fix the stupid Physick skill in a way which makes it useable in some way, even if it has to be a mediocre single target heal on 30+ sec.
