I agree. It seems many people like the idea of the new smn but don't understand the reality of it. It's not better. We'll see how it works out at 90 though. It's not about it being a DoT caster at the moment.
It's about the class simply being UNFINISHED.
If it plays like a level 60 at 80 and above, something has gone terribly wrong in the design process.
Like I'm leaving my other grievances out because clearly people hone in on the DoTs and shininess of the job because it's brand new with sparkles while smelling like a brand new car that has actually problems with it's engine and other compartments.
It's lack luster, barebones and rushed.
And if you're going to excuse that, fine. I'm not.

I have to stress, I felt initially very hyped about the job trailer for Summoner.
But then I saw how much was gone, how barebones it was.
That instantly killed my excitement and made it start ringing alarm bells, that is not the bar of something that is supposed to be at it's cap level.
While I'm grateful that my Carbuncle is still bouncing around, it's my only solace.
Think of it like a blue print for a house, everything looks good. It looks in order, it's been approved...
Your house is getting built.
It looked great, but then once you enter the house you notice the walls are not even done. The more you look into it, the more you notice things aren't done yet they are still being marked as done. (Ghosting and irresponsiveness of pets, despite it supposedly being fixed.)

Oke, so at first I liked the changes, now I got to do some dungeons with SMN...
Where is the rest of my Kit ? Are you telling me that this is all there is to SMN ? It feels like its missing a lot of skills and some that we have dont even make sense.
I did several dungeons and oh my god, its bad, like really bad. I was being out done by a DNC in a lvl 80 dungeon and I had the better gear.
SE, the frick did you do ?
I'm sorry, but that sounds more like you have no idea how to play SMN and you're using that as an excuse to complain about it.Oke, so at first I liked the changes, now I got to do some dungeons with SMN...

This has been my experience too. It seemed pretty cool on the training dummies. Then I ran a bunch of dungeons when my key bindings and abilities were setup. It might just be too much change all at once for me. Maybe getting to 90 will avelliate some of these feelings. Right now though.. its just kinda boring. The entire rotation is just minor variations on summon -> enkindle -> spam.Oke, so at first I liked the changes, now I got to do some dungeons with SMN...

There is also the chance that since the job has fundamentally changed that your performance was affected by the newness of it. Goodness knows mine was. It is inevitable that you won't be the master of something straight away. In any case the chaos has been fun for me so far in the...instances I've been in on my main.
Don't project your experience onto others lol, you can master new SMN in like 5 minutes. There is also the chance that since the job has fundamentally changed that your performance was affected by the newness of it. The only thing that might not come naturally is:
To only use Ifrit when you can stand still in melee range for ~5 seconds.
Summon Ifrit and Titan in the middle of a pack if you are in an AoE situation.
If not progressing, use Swiftcast for Ifrit (Ruby Rite or something).
For the second point, I drew a diagram:
You want Titan/Ifrit to move towards the target of the Summon attack in a way that, when they touch the enemy's max melee radius, they're in range of as many other mobs as possible.
You don't have to worry about Slipstream as much because the AoE's center is on the mob's center instead of the Egi.

People who played Summoner before and gave at least 2 sh*ts about the class should realize that when we summon, we use the same (but without dots and puddles) spells as when we hit Enkindle before. So Unless you just rolled the class for the sake of it, you should know this by default.
What the hell are you even arguing against lol?People who played Summoner before and gave at least 2 sh*ts about the class should realize that when we summon, we use the same (but without dots and puddles) spells as when we hit Enkindle before.
