nevermind. i did the good old unplug and replug for my wireless connector and it worked. sorry bout that lol. thank you for the fix, holy crap you've saved me so much strife i might actually cry from the relief hahano such luck on my end. I'm also an arctis 7 user, but for the most part everything was set to have Game as the default device, and switching between it, to something else, and back again did nothing. Dx11 still crashes, or boots with the worst sound distortion. I've been playing via Dx9 since launch, but the crashes and stuttering of the game just makes me wish Dx11 worked again.
Any other ideas?
I'm not sure if i'm missing a place to change my default device; since i definitely can't change it ingame, I've changed it via Sound Settings and Sound Control Panel, is there something I'm missing?
I don't know if I've ever posted on the forums before-- but I wanted to say thank you. I don't know how or why any settings might have changed, but switching my default sound device stopped the errors upon login! I was then able to set them back to the way they should be. Bless you. FFXIV's intricacies are so odd, sometimes...
Thank you so much, i spent hours of hours to find an answer. I reinstalled the game twice and do a lot of other things!!! My Headset is an Razer....

I'm also having this issue. Happened yesterday at the beginning of a dungeon and wouldn't stop until I reset my PC.
It just happened AGAIN and completely hard crashed my PC and it reset on it's own after I waited 2 HOURS to get in due to the queue system (thanks afk exploiters) and it crashed only after 1 min of playing. I'm real happy right now.
Just as a quick reply, if you are having this same issue in DirectX11 with a Logitech Gaming headset, the reply involving changing the App's output to the game is the one that fixed it for my girlfriend as well.
If I can add pictures, this is how you find it.
Start by right-clicking the Sound symbol on your System Tray:

Thanks a bunch. I use a third party program to separate my audio, so I never would have even guessed this was a feature. I have no idea how it fixes it, but that's computers

Thank you so much!!!! This fixed my issue!!!I found a solution, after reading through lots of other forum posts, most people had reported their headset being a Steelseries, if that's the case (Arctis 7 Wireless here) change your default audio device, make sure it says (Game) and not chat for the output. Hope this helps people, cleared up all my direct X 11 issues somehow! Good luck!
Also if that doesn't work, setting output to another device, for starters I just put it through my monitor to try the fix first
I have the same audio issue. I am using a Bose headset. Whenever I turn it on, my game would crash with a Direct X error (ffxiv_dx11.exe+XXXXXX). I can always use my PC speakers for the time being but then I won't be able to use my mic for discord. This only happens ever since EW comes out. Is there a way to fix this from my side or will it be a SE issue to fix?
I've been having the same issues, as well; it's made the game borderline unplayable. Unfortunately, I don't use a headset, just a pair of stereo headphones as I always have, so the solution being passed around doesn't really help me any.![]()
ill throw my 2cents to ive tried everything windows reinstall just in case i had something corupted gfx driver rollbacks like 4 different versions some advices i found in youtube 2 nothing worked ...
and then in one post someone said a tech told her/him to try installing the game in the boot drive ... problem for me is i do not have a big boot drive so not enough space to do that .
BUT i said to myself why not install it on a clean disk and so i did i used a usb disk i have for backups i formated it did a new install from scratch and prayed to the gods of digital gaming ..
and for some odd reason the prayers worked .. the game runs no issues no crashes no nothing .. as for the why ... your guess is as good as mine i hope this will help others to
The same as yatsuisme I also use a Bose headset and the game consistently crashes as long as I use the headset mode (with which I can chat with friends on discord while enjoying the game). Headphone mode works fine but I won't be able to enjoy the beautiful in game music and sound effects.
